Some of our Glasgow Doors Open Days tour group on a street in Tradeston amid its heritage buildings which were built for a range of industrial, commercial and municipal purposes. Part of the Category-B listed Leyland Motor Co Ltd building, covered in graffiti, in Port Glasgow which borders on Tradeston. Our Glasgow Doors Open Days tour group walking beneath a railway underpass in Tradeston. The derelict former Glasgow Telephone Exchange on Centre Street in Tradeston, built by Glasgow Office of Public Works and completed circa 1935. The damaging Buddleia / Buddleja Davidii plant species is seen growing on the building in several places and more of this invasive plant is covering the other sides of the structure out of sight here.

Fab photos & archive sketches in that post, kudos! Bentley Wood is also the final building in Gavin Stamp's Interwar: British Architecture 1919-39 ~ he called Chermayeff's home "an important step in the naturalisation and sophistication of the Modern Movement in Britain". @profilebooks.bsky.social

Diane Keaton was a legend ~ not only of film ... but also of historic building preservation, serving on the board of the Los Angeles Conservancy, as a trustee of the National Trust for Historic Preservation & more... Great info in the linked blog below 🙌. RIP 💚 bsky.app/profile/save...

The Conservancy was saddened to learn of the death of actress Diane Keaton. Deeply committed to historic preservation, she played a significant role in our efforts to rescue the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Ennis House in 2005. savewright.org/remembering-...

Lantern on the gates to James Dempster's Old Cathcart Parish Church looking sadly awry. Managed to locate the original design in the wonderful HES reproduction of Walter MacFarlane's Saracen Foundry catalogue. #old #cathcart #parish #saracen #foundry

Spotted that a few years back while doing a reccie for our Cathcart Heritage Trail walk but the sun at the back made getting a photo that properly showed the inscription impossible. A MacFarlane map of the Southside would be well furnished with examples.

Did my first ever #Strathbungo walking tour for Glasgow Doors Open Day in conjunction with @sghetorg.bsky.social and The Strathbungo Society. Tours are fully subscribed but it was good fun and I might do it again sometime. Watch this space.
