Also the high costs of building multifamily housing (compared to SFH) are quite high to the point that it’s a real problem. Our building codes are based on the anti-urban philosophy of early 20th c. reformers who thought that construction of apartments should be a last resort.

In Nantes, there is a big park planned south of an existing eco-district. In the spirit of ecological/ephemeral uses of land, the city is has put a construction waste recycling center on the site. Now, the residents of the southernmost apartments are organizing against it. Just kind of amusing (1/3)
