In today’s situation, pro-democracy forces can make one of the following 2 errors:

1) React weakly & slowly against a fascist movement.

2) React quickly & strongly against a movement that is not fascist after all.

A country can afford error #2.
Error #1 would be catastrophic.

Big difference.

2) Regarding this comment: “This cannot, and will not, be how the United States ends.”… Maybe, maybe not. Reality is that nobody knows how this nightmare ends. The result will heavily depend on human agency.

Democracy may return to the US, but it is not a certain outcome.
