Speaking up today for residents against a planning application which would have massively negative impacts for them.Glad to say most of planning cttee voted against refusal & officers will work on reasons for refusal. We want new housing on this site but this application isn’t good enough.

“If you get hit by a car travelling at 50km/h, you’ve only got a 1.5-in-10 chance of surviving. If it’s going 30km/h you’ve got a nine-in-10 chance.”

“But it was not enough to put up a sign that says 30km/h…there also needed to be design changes to slow down traffic.”

Speed is always a factor.
Switching 50km/h speed limits to 30km/h would protect cyclists while barely affecting commutes, research finds
One expert says a cyclist hit by a car travelling 50km/h has about a one-in-10 chance of surviving, while at 30km/h it is a nine-in-10 chance

"Developers of the Rosebank oil field said nearly 250 million tonnes of planet warming gas would be released from using oil products from the field."

For the avoidance of any doubt...

This is not in line with the UK's climate commitments or a fair carbon budget. 🧪

The impact from the Rosebank oil field is estimated at nearly 250 million tonnes of planet warming CO2.

Think you know your London Tube stations? 🚉

Zack, Zöe, and Dylan took on our emoji challenge — can you get the names before them? ⏱️🤔
Chuffed as I got all of those very quickly- would be embarrassing if not though as I used to work for London Underground (decades ago!)

🔍 Anton Spisak (Centre for European Reform), observes that, after Brexit took effect at the end of 2020, Britain’s goods exports have grown less than those of any other economy in the G7 club of rich countries.

❌ Brexit is a form of economic vandalism.

Latest poll puts Greens just two points behind Labour. When I said we weren't here to be disappointed in Labour but to replace them, I meant it.

We need the Government to say no to this oil field, and we need YOU to tell them that.

Because...
Rosebank is a carbon bomb!
It would produce more CO2 than the annual emissions of the world’s 28 lowest-income countries combined, smashing through the UK’s climate targets.

Every time you hear #StopTheBoats remember this: #Brexit tore up the tool that actually stopped them.
And now the same people want us to leave the #ECHR.
Ask yourself why the parties of the right - of big business and billionaires - want to reduce and remove your human rights.
Wonderful story. Do listen to the one and only Jilly…

Poor research led to one of our Bristol Cllr’s, Abdul Malik, being wrongly slurred on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme this morning with claims he said terrible things about Jewish people. Yesterday, Abdul and his fellow ward Councillors issued this statement about the terrible synagogue attack.
Statement in solidarity with Jewish people after the terrible synagogue attack in Manchester from Green councillors: Cllr Abdul Malik, Cllr Tim Wye and Cllr Izzy Russell.
