So sad to hear about wonderful Jilly Cooper. A big part of my life - one of the reasons I decided to go into journalism. When I was 13, she very kindly let me ‘interview’ her for my little school magazine- she was warm and sweet. Loved her wickedly funny books & articles. Re-read Riders recently!

The author of 18 ‘bonkbuster’ novels including Riders, Rivals and Bella has died following a fall Jilly Cooper has died at the age of 88, her agent has confirmed. Poor research led to one of our Bristol Cllr’s, Abdul Malik, being wrongly slurred on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme this morning with claims he said terrible things about Jewish people. Yesterday, Abdul and his fellow ward Councillors issued this statement about the terrible synagogue attack.
