A woman wearing a blue uniform stands before a black background with streaks of purple and yellow. Her uniform is a mix between magical girl attire and a SWAT BDU. She holds a rifle and has a pistol holstered at the hip.

Decided to boot up Titanfall 2 for the first time in a year plus change. It always feels like coming home every time I hop in my Ion—Dumping 400 hours into the game during the worst of the COVID lockdown will do that to you, I guess.
The titan customization screen in Titanfall 2, featuring the Ion-class Titan.

only thing that really *bothered* me about the show was the lack of follow-up on Nina's confession to Momoka. It felt really strange to end an episode with an explicitly romantic confession and then not follow up on that for the rest of the series. Am I crazy?

unstable state while keeping her idealistic stubbornness was really fun. It was fun to watch for all the girls—They spend half the series running away from each other, but by the end they're able to sit down and talk openly about the stuff bothering them. The (...)

I found Nina to be an extremely relatable and *real* character. She was treated like shit, harassed at school, rejected by her friend, ignored by her father, and it made her an emotionally-stunted stubborn asshole. Seeing her mature out of that (...)

Finished Girls Band Cry. Short spoiler-free review—I had fun! A cute story about a bunch of misfit underdog musicians trying to be heard. If I had one critique, it's that the series felt cramped; it could've really benefited from another 5 episodes, especially near the end. Spoilers in the replies.

loving how much of an emotionally difficult kinda-an-asshole nina is. she's actually written like a troubled 17yo

Mikazuki is out here piloting a one-of-a-kind artisanal supermech while Shin is stuck with Thing We Cobbled Together In A Shed Unit #243425635

86 focuses on ideological racism and overt state oppression, while IBO is more about how the economic forces of the solar system create conflicts that fuck over the poor. Stylistically, IBO is also more focused on the mecha overall, whereas the mechs in 86 are just like, a tool the characters use.

nearing the end of S1. it really does create an interesting parallel with Eighty Six. both start in a similar place—child soldiers forced to fight against their will and a female reformist figure who wants to change things—then diverge extremely early on due to how they approach world building.

Milsim slop is the wrong term—What I mean to convey is that the color palette of Titanfall 1 doesn't always do the design many favors.
senerae.bsky.social
I'll concede that in the first game they can look a little milsim slop, but the Atlas frame from the Titanfall franchise has to be my favorite mech design. Rugged, industrial, humanoid—a working man's mech.
