Car journeys play a big part in the two novels of hers I’ve read, so will be interested to see how public transport changes the dynamic!
With you on the train setting! Will add this one to the list.
Oh, thanks, Ian — will definitely seek these out.
Isn’t it? One of those films that stays with you.
Are there any other DBH novels you’d recommend, Jacqui? Apart from this I’ve only read In a Lonely Place.
Same. Luckily Jacqui warned me about this!
It really got under my skin and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I put it down.
I have @jacquiwine.bsky.social to thank for recommending this astonishing novel by Dorothy B. Hughes: a gripping narrative about a man in the frame for murder that that is ultimately an indictment of America itself. If you haven’t read it, do – but don’t read any more about it before going in…
Hope you manage to go – it gets very booked up.
Oh, thanks for this. It was actually the stone walls on Inis Mór that I was reminded of today so definitely will seek out the book.
It’s a wonderful exhibition. Have also seen his work in Dumfries & Galloway, near where he lives.
Really worth it if you get a chance, particularly in the wild.
I had the same thought exactly!
What a day for a walk to Andy Goldsworthy’s extraordinary Hanging Stones on the North York Moors #AndyGoldsworthy
It’s so accomplished. How she can direct at this level while acting in every scene is extraordinary.
Watched this beautifully made comedy about life after trauma. A remarkable debut by actor/director Eva Victor.
Ha ha yes, I see what you mean. It’s a tiny venue, built as a practice room for the local brass band in the 1920s. Definitely recommend a visit www.thebandroom.co.uk
Will check these out, thanks. His was an extraordinary solo perfomance in its own right: playing, sampling and mixing in real time.
It was good to discover James Elkington’s music too. He opened the show and produces and plays on Steve’s new album.
Yes, ‘Way Out Weather’ was a highlight of the gig. Also an amazing cover of ‘I’ll Be Your Mirror’. Didn’t know about Golden Gunn, will investigate.
Steve had just been sent a box of CDs so I picked one up. (He said he hasn’t had a chance to listen to it himself yet.)
