“Go to a No Kings rally. What do you see? You see moms and grandmas and kids and dogs and funny signs and dancing and happy displays of opposition to the regime that are foundationally nonviolent. And on the other end, you’ve got a regime that’s led by a guy who cheered the January 6th insurrection”

Regarding past rallies Indivisible has organized, such as the “Hands Off” rallies that took place in all fifty states in April, co-executive director Ezra Levin said: “It was far larger than January 6th, and there was no violence. None.” www.thebulwark.com/p/no-kings-r...

Oscar Fingal O'Fflahertie Wills Wilde[a] (16 October 1854 – 30 November 1900) was an Irish author, poet, and playwright. After writing in different literary styles throughout the 1880s, he became one of the most popular and influential dramatists in London in the early 1890s.
He was a key figure in the emerging Aestheticism movement of the late 19th century and is regarded by many as the greatest playwright of the Victorian era. Wilde is best known for his Gothic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890), his epigrams, plays, and bedtime stories for children, as well as his criminal conviction in 1895 for gross indecency for homosexual acts.

#ArtSky #VanGogh
"Bedroom in Arles" by Vincent van Gogh.
Van Gogh painted three versions of this work between 1888 and 1889, depicting his bedroom in the "Yellow House" in Arles, France.
The first version, painted in October 1888, is located at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
The second and third versions, painted in September 1889, are held by the Art Institute of Chicago and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, respectively.
The painting is known for its bold use of color and perspective and is considered one of Van Gogh's most famous and personal works.

Today 137 years ago, on 16 October 1888, Vincent van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo from Arles:

"My eyes are still tired, but anyway I had a new idea in mind, and here’s the croquis of it. No. 30 canvas once again. This time it’s simply my bedroom, but the colour has to do the job here, and through its being simplified by giving a grander style to things, to be suggestive here of rest or of sleep in general. In short, looking at the painting should rest the mind, or rather, the imagination.”

THIS IS CONRAD HEYER ... he is the earliest born person in the U.S. to ever be photographed. He was born in 1749, but sat for this pic in 1852 at the age of 103. (alt)
While you’ve probably never seen this pic, it’s a good bet you’ve seen the famous painting that includes him. At age 27 in 1776, Conrad was a Revolutionary soldier who was in the boat with General George Washington when he crossed the Delaware River.

Remembering Cole Porter, a brilliant composer and songwriter !!💙
Cole Albert Porter (June 9, 1891 – October 15, 1964)
Born to a wealthy family in Indiana, he defied the wishes of his domineering grandfather and took up music as a profession. Classically trained, he was drawn towards musical theatre. After a slow start, he began to achieve success in the 1920s, and by the 1930s he was one of the major songwriters for the Broadway musical stage. Unlike many successful Broadway composers, Porter wrote the lyrics as well as the music for his songs.
After a serious horseback riding accident in 1937, Porter was left disabled and in constant pain, but he continued to work. His shows of the early 1940s did not contain the lasting hits of his best work of the 1920s and 30s, but in 1948 he made a triumphant comeback with his most successful musical, Kiss Me, Kate. It won the first Tony Award for Best Musical.
Porter's other musicals include Fifty Million Frenchmen, DuBarry Was a Lady, Anything Goes, Can-Can and Silk Stockings. His numerous hit songs include "Night and Day", "I Get a Kick Out of You", "Well, Did You Evah!", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "My Heart Belongs to Daddy" and "You're the Top". He also composed scores for films from the 1930s to the 1950s, including Born to Dance (1936), which featured the song "You'd Be So Easy to Love", Rosalie (1937), which featured "In the Still of the Night"; High Society (1956), which included "True Love"; and Les Girls (1957).

THIN LIZZY "Johnny The Fox".
Their seventh studio album. Released October 16, 1976
Their seventh studio album.
The band at its peak.
Recorded and released less than seven months after "Jailbreak" due to Phil contracting hepatitis and canceling their US tour.
Excellently produced by John Alcock.
Not a bad or filler song on this one. IMO, their very best studio album.
Featured the single "Don't Believe A Word". Plus ace tracks "Johnny", "Rocky", "Borderline", Old Flame", ...
The album peaked at #11 in the UK and #52 in the US.
When it looked like Lizzy was going to make up for "lost ground" in the US, Brian Robertson was sidelined on the eve of their next US tour opening for Rainbow.
Robertson suffered a severed tendon in his left hand protecting his friend Frankie Miller in a bar fight.
The tour was delayed/postponed until Gary Moore was drafted in as a temporary replacement.
Though Robertson did return, his status in the band was permanently uncertain and his days numbered.
RIP Phil Lynott.
