lol spinning even fox news refusing to sign your dumb pledge into a victory

Good god, I would hate for anyone to know where I am at any time, let alone at all times, and my life consists of like going to work, grocery stores, and restaurants, friends’ houses, and the occasional movie with my wife. When I was young and exciting that would have been my idea of hell

And I guess destroying the world with fossil fuels is something both those types can get behind?
sdzdc.bsky.social
Yeah there’s is something in the culture that assumes it is manly to not dress well and eat like shit and trash your surroundings, which is insane because the same culture says the manliest thing you can do is grind and dominate other people; and yet both types are like in what it means to be a man

Yeah, I have long feared the day when like low information but otherwise well meaning voters in their 60s are still voting Republican because out of tribal loyalty (like rooting for the home team) and are electing Nazi Pepe brained men. I didn’t think that would happen this quickly but here we are

What’s real dumb is I grew up working class. I just had read Milton Friedman in a high school AP Econ class and thought his arguments were unassailable and like the starting point for any policy discussion

I was a really dumb “small L libertarian” who thought the free market could mostly do everything and was real naive about the extent to which racism and sexism still exist. That and I grew up in DC and so didn’t understand what conservatives were like outside the beltway until I worked on campaigns

I dunno. I was a college Republican from 2002-2006 and while you occasionally ran into these kids, they were considered weird and fringe. Of course, I’m a lefty now; and all the leadership I still keep in touch with voted Clinton, Biden, Harris so maybe we were outliers but I think things are worse

Yeah, it’s one of the things where Trads are extremely online and make it seem like Catholics in America are passionately fascist when in reality most of them probably don’t meaningfully deviate from other people in their area and demographics

Even the animals aren’t safe….

Yeah I don’t know if the No Kings protest on its own is all that effective, but I have the feeling that the administration preemptively labeling them terrorists who hate America and gearing up to confront a bunch of grandparents carrying flags and constitutions has a chance of waking people up

but I used to watch in Living Color all the time as a 5-6 year because Tommy Davidson and Jim Carrey made funny faces and voices. Watching reruns at 8, I suddenly understood all the jokes about race (or most of them), but it was only when I was 11-12 that I got most of the sex jokes.

I was so so confused by this sketch as a six year old. I used to watch in living color every Sunday with my dad and when this sketch came on I was like “are they men or women? The name is men on films but they talk like ladies…is that the joke?”

I don’t know if this says more about me or America…

That’s why you had to discover her like I did on hipinion in a thread where the first 12 pages are dudes ogling her and complaining about her voice and then the next forty are all of them being oh my god she’s the second coming of Shakespeare

Who made you this way?
Who made you this way?
Who is going to bear your beautiful children?
Do you think you can just stop
When you're ready for a change?
Who will take care of you
When you're old and dying?

2nd cousins,so maybe they aren’t close? I know my first cousins, and my first cousins once and twice removed, but I couldn’t tell you who any of my 2nd cousins are, and I’m a weirdo about this stuff

I don’t think we should have a Columbus Day, but I also don’t think the people who disagree with me are necessarily operating out of malice. Some of them, are for sure. But I can’t let that be my presupposition if I think there are any people to win over

Americans. Indigenous people see him, accurately, as an Attila the Hun destroyer of all good things, an enslaver, the start of genocide. And those are voices that America went out of its way to hide for centuries and have only recently been able to make their case to the broader public.

grandparents because he was part of what made them American in their eyes. When they see people attacking him, they can’t listen to what those people are saying because what those people are saying is those you’ve loved and lost were wrong. Unfortunately Columbus represents other things to other

Eh I think once figures become symbols the person is subsumed by what it represents. To a lot Americans, Columbus is the guy they learned about discovering America in kindergarten. He’s the cartoon figure that they saw on television with Mr Magoo. To a lot of Italians he was important to their

The Catholic Church also has ornate churches and a lot of violent imagery in its art. It’s not like these movies typically understand religion most of the time. Often it’s a creepy southern guy who reads as a Pentecostal preaching goofy hellfire in a massive gothic cathedral
