Writing about Andrew McClary has revealed a vital truth to me: sometimes we do not choose our stories.
They choose us. I spent years writing good manuscripts that never quite rang true. Andrew made sure I knew why. They weren’t his.

Today I pulled into a gas station but couldn’t get near the pump due to a large pickup ahead of me. The guy urged me to pull closer. Then he got into his truck and drove forward (the nozzle still in his truck) so I could access the pump behind him. I’m encountering the nicest people this week.
