what trying to get your shit together looks like. for me. are 4 journals necessary? probably not, might actually be overkill, but keeping this separate and organized seems to be helping.

thank you! honestly, the possibility of seizures didn’t even come up until i had a particularly bad episode this past spring that made me think that maybe these “fainting spells” are more than just fainting. and then basically laughed out of the er the next day with ppwk about syncope 🫠

*edit: lol neurologist, not psychiatrist. but also the psychiatrist too. epilepsy of any kind does not run in my family that i’m aware of and so he thinks it could be related to trauma and he wants me to have someone to talk to on top of my therapist before starting me on any meds. fun times.

been dealing with these episodes since i was a kid and nothing was ever done about it.

i’m almost scared to get a dx bc all my life ive been told to try harder and do better and to suck it up and basically dismissed that something was wrong.

only to find out theres a possible underlying condition.

woke up sick and with a migraine today. went home early and called out from the dogs.

went to a gp last week for the first time in a really long time and my dr told me he thinks my fainting spells and migraines could be absent seizures. ordered me an mri and a referral to a psychiatrist.

It's not like he planned for it. He had fully intended to just go straight to bed, he was fucking exhausted, but—he was also pent the fuck up. Weeks they'd been out sailing the Caribbean; Ed showing Stede the ropes (literally), Stede showing Ed the finer things in life. Ed had started thinking maybe he'd gotten the sweeter shake of the deal after spending an afternoon watching Stede climb the rigging.

In true Stede fashion, he'd started the day in one of his usual get ups: a full, three-piece suit in deep cobalt blue with white trim and gold accents. His matching heeled booties were tied up with a gold ribbon, offset by his bright white stockings. The waistcoat was a heavy white brocade, intricately woven with vines and flowers twining along the torso in glittery gold thread. Almost all of which ended up thrown over the capstan as their lesson progressed, ending with Stede in just his blouse and breeches, soaked see-through with sweat and ocean spray.

That had been enough for him to dive straight off the boat just to cool off.

A low, involuntary groan rumbled out of Ed's mouth at the thought. The shape of his calves as he climbed the ropes, the way his forearms strained with effort, watching that one drop of sweat bead off a stray curl under his ear and slide along the muscle of his neck until it disappeared under the collar. Oh-h, fuck.

But as much as he enjoyed replaying that particular mental image, that wasn't really where he wanted to be right now…
