I personally definitely lost my drive to go stay out late drinking after things opened back up but it coincidenced with going from early 30s to mid 30s for me so hard to say if I would've just naturally aged out of partying regardless.

Reading between the lines on the fact that people old enough to drink started drinking more during 2020/2021 lockdown I think a lot of people just scared themselves sober/moderating after getting to personally scary places with drinking while stuck at home with nothing else to do.

Oh it's not just in restaurants. Just in general, fewer people are drinking and the people who do drink are drinking less. Apparently it's young people being less likely to drink at all and older cohorts cutting back.

People drinking less probably also adding to driving up the food prices at restaurants, since booze was traditionally their profit center.

I'm choosing to believe that heart condition we just learned about via the "15 years younger in his heart that chronologically" thing he just made his doctor put out means he recently had a massive heart attack that almost killed him.

Part of this could be people drinking less. Alcohol is where restaurants have historically gotten their profits from so if people aren't gonna order drinks then sides are the obvious place to look next. Could get it on the entrees too but $15 for a $5 side probably shocks less than $30->$40.

Seems like a good example of why we should legislate the outcomes we actually want, instead of making the law as draconian as possible and counting on prosecutorial/executive discretion to get the desired outcomes.
