1. Learn to smile genuinely
2. Let them speak and feel heard
3. Don’t abruptly change topics, segue gracefully
4. Laugh at yourself when you get awkward or if you misspeak

but i see it constantly in this fandom, and i do think it's a very white people mentality to poke fun about how we might get "cancelled" for our problematic characters while poc in this fandom are constantly getting dog piled or pushed out just for existing and telling their stories

experiences definitely vary a lot and mine are tarnished by running in the same circle as an ex friend who made a big clout chasing show of making "problematic" characters for the fantasy of it while also engaging in bigoted behaviour behind closed doors. and i wish i could say he was the only one
