It's the start of cold and flu season which means RSV cases will also soon start spiking. A new study found half of all Canadians hospitalized for RSV are under six months old. Immunization options are approved but not readily available.

This is heartbreaking.
Fuck ICE.
Fuck hateful politics and policies.
Free Palestine.
Fuck weapons manufacturers.
Fuck the oligarchs that create hatred and fear and cruelty to enrich their unspeakable wealth.
This is all settler colonialism and capitalism.
Devastating— “I’m afraid for my parents to leave the house. They treat us like dogs because of the color of our skin. I shouldn’t be scared, I should be focusing on school.”

A 16yo American living in fear of the Trump regime’s ICE goons terrorizing brown people pleads for help.
I’ve been wondering the same thing. It has happened a number or times for me.

Full house at Museum of Anthropology tonight for ‘Beyond Fires & Floods, Indigenous narratives in an era of extremes,’ with Rick Harp, Judi Kochun, Tanya Talaga and Mark Trahant, and myself.
Here’s a trick. Public Health Units continue to have vaccination clinics for kids. When mine were little, we would take them for their routine / yearly vaccines and the nurses were happy to vaccinate parents for covid & flu at the same time. The # for qathet Immunization Clinic is 604-485-3310.
This seems both bad, and a bad idea on the part of BCCDC.
Do you have any idea how much I love the Strathcona Community Centre?

Yes. My great great grandfather was sent from England at 12 years old, along with his brother who was 9, to work as indentured “labourers” on farms in Ontario.

So all this is said with the caveat that the conversion cushion has been included to reconcile our figures but

Lots of reports from folks who have gone to pharmacies in Vancouver this week where walk in appts are available for covid & flu vaccines. Really wish we did not have to crowd source this vital public health info.
The thing I abhor is that all? new glass measuring cups dribble when poured. It doesn’t matter how accurate the measuring lines are, if some of that liquid ends up on the counter.

Hey all - if you're in Vancouver and you want covid and/or flu vaccines*, Rexall is doing walk-ins. Info is on their website, call the pharmacy nearest you to check. I was in and out today with no wait. The Get Vaccinated system is a time-wasting boondoggle

*you really do. both of them.
I get that. I do not like making or eating hollandaise. Good news is eggs Florentine with a Gruyère mornay is divine. Wondering if you have had success making gf béchamel?
Update: vaccine booster appointments must be booked through the Get Vaccinated provincial system - either online getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca or by calling 1-833-838-2323. Booking directly with a pharmacy won’t work anymore.
Covid & flu vaccines are @ BC pharmacies now. Oct 14 is first day they are available to general public. Some folks are using old vaccine invite email links to book appts on the get vaccinated online booking system. You can also call or visit your pharmacy to book, or wait for your invitation email.
Yes, please! Do you know if any bookstores in Vancouver will have the cookbook in stock?

Before Raphael Lemkin collapsed on 42nd Street in New York City and died at a local police station in 1959, he knew these truths about genocide that the world still cannot accept.
