I’m going into the workforce after a hiatus and am declining to self identify on applications. It isn’t the companies’ use of the data that’s scary - it’s the government’s approach to data privacy. When information can be sold and funds are unlimited, confidentiality is dead 😵

My professional HR stance is that companies asking for demographic data use it to improve, hiring managers don’t see it, recruiters don’t use it, and the quantity of demographic questions correlates positively with the amount focus a company is giving dei - more questions, more focus. However…

HR perspective but not government HR - is there a severance policy and is this aligned? 2: what if they say no? Do they get fired without pay? 3: something I could never wrap my brain around - severance is charged to a different code than wages so it looks like a $saver bc it doesn’t hit bottom line
