As much as I know and understand the importance of academia in our safety critical profession I Never thought I would be going university again.

Today, I became a student once again, had my first day of module 1/3.

Today we found out that the number of bathing waters rated as unfit for swimming has more than doubled, the 'Dental Recovery Plan' is in disarray and pensioners will be forced to go without hot meals.

Where is the change people voted for?

REAL HOPE. REAL CHANGE.
Only 53% of rivers and lakes meet minimum standards for bathing.
Just one of the target 240 new dentists recruited.
One in 10 pensioners will be forced to reduce hot meals without winter fuel payment.

Nearly five years on, NHS workers are still feeling the effects of caring for patients with #COVID19.

A snippet here from today’s @bmj.com.

I still recall vividly certain patients. The fear in their eyes when they couldn’t breathe and knew they were dying.

That will stay with me a long time.

Nurses who have lost 20-30% of their pay in ten years.

Nothing to do with greedy CEOs and record private profits?

I'm looking forward to beginning my term on council with the Royal College of Nurses in Jan.

The RCN needs to be formidable in its pursuit of respect for nurses or we will continue to lose them.

There is no health system, and no healthcare, without nurses.
