Hi, BlueSky!
I'm Phix, and if you couldn't tell by my handle, I'm a huge #SailorMoon fan focused on translating and archiving some of the franchise's more obscure pieces of print media (comics, picture books, etc.). So, if you're a fellow Moonie (and not afraid of hot takes), I'd love to be friends!

Let’s dance to the rhythm #SailorMoon
Mamoru, wearing a blue suit and matching bowtie, and Usagi, wearing a frilly pink gown with matching gloves and a gold tiara, are shown holding hands and looking adoringly at each other while a string of musical notes fills the air behind them

A crossover movie of the classic magical girlies would be so cute, and the perfect way to reintroduce some of them to a new generation. Why can't we have nice things?

I don't know if it's because they targeted a slightly younger demographic than the anime, but the Otomodachi "Sailor Moon" stories always have the villains engage in petty mischief rather than causing serious destruction. It makes for a very silly, cozy take on the series.

When Sailor Iron Mouse targets the girls' salon, Usagi and her friends have to act fast to avoid having one bad hair day! #SailorMoon #SailorFunComics (1/2)
First two pages of the Sailor Moon Sailor Stars feature story "Sticker Salon" from the July 1996 issue of Otomodachi. The pages show Usagi, Ami, and Minako getting their hair done at a beauty salon run by Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka. Haruka notices Sailor Iron Mouse looking in through the window.

(And since the lyrics were written by Takeuchi herself, I wonder if that "map yellowed with age" with an angel stenciled on it was meant to actually be a thing that appeared in the manga, and it just downgraded to that card of Sagittarius Zero Star, or what?)

I know fans like to clown on Crystal for failing to live up to the girl power lyrics of Moon Pride, but the failure of Sailor Stars to deliver on the promise of Sailor Star Song is far more egregious

Looks like a new Sailor Moon Cafe is opening up next month. Merch consists of clear files, posters, postcards, and coasters featuring colorized manga artwork. Hopefully this is a sign the all-color manga edition isn't dead?

I'm a Julie/Catwoman stan, so I'm never going to say no to more of her, but that said, the second movie didn't really give her character anything new to do, so what was the point other than "she's still alive so let's bring her back again"

Very true. I wonder if they tried reaching out to any of the other surviving cast members to make cameos (surely Joan Collins would have been game), but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even bother :\

I still wish they'd gotten Yvonne Craig to reprise her role as Batgirl for the first one before she passed away. Maybe they did approach her and she declined, I don't know, but it would have been really nice.

It still kills me how Toei completely forgot about this subplot when adapting Ami's First Love. It's not her first love when she already had a whole ~thing~ with Urawa!

Also: Ryō should've stayed a recurring character in all five seasons.
Ryō Urawa sits across from Usagi Tsukino at a cafe in the 27th episode of the anime Sailor Moon.
