I wish we had a not so little pufferfish friend like this cutie to follow us as we sailed.

This one makes us smile every time we see them.

This one seems to be a Spot Fin Porcupine Pufferfish
We put up our decals.... only took about 9 months

Happy not to have them being bumped around in the boat anymore
So worth it. We love it here so far.
Columbia gets a really bad wrap. It's a more technical area to sail compared with some places in the Caribbean, but you do research & pick your weather
As for the country itself, it has a bad reputation by many, but honestly seems unjustified.
It's a bit of a change of pace & awesome for it
Not even sure what you mean by that?
Columbia is lovely.

We are at Santa Marta Marina & it's really nice.

We have access to laundry facilities for FREE no more hand washing whilst here.

We found a delicious cooked chicken for $7CAD

Our Spanish is limited but so happy to be in Columbia.

The entry tax for Canadians sucked though
Approaching Santa Marta

The "buddy boat" we had went close to shore & had a terrible run. We went out 40nm & had no need for engine

No huge issues with weather, some moments of sporty/ spiciness but overall an amazing sail.

This is Santa Marta Columbia
The bioluminescence display last night was wonderful. Could see big fish & lots of flying fish, one which jumped & hit my face 😜
The moon came out & seas settled a little
This morning, we had a huge pod of dolphins say hi, who may out may not have appreciated us giving them some dead flying fish
Our buddy boat is closer to shore, where we can see lightning. Wishing LunaSea safe passage, as we come in from further out.

Going to be a long night 🌙
Sunset off the coast of Columbia

Sail is getting "spicy"

80nm to go to Santa Marta

Reefed in. Boat has been tossed better than most garden salads
Different timezone in Columbia half our devices updated automatically some did not, we went with the majority but damn that was confusing as we did a shift change 😂😅

One of us was adamant it was still their watch at the time, even though another hour would've sucked... 😂😅
Almost past Venezuela

137nm in 24hrs (impressive given we've only done 3 knots an hour for the last 6 haha)

Another long night ahead, with the cape being our next event on this passage
Thanks Mark

So far no Pirates, coming past Aruba (on the far coast away from Venezuela)

My shift is over, but I'll be sure to check out your suggestion after some sleep
We were going to stay a bit longer. We love Curaçao so much. Weather is weather though & this craptastic passage to Santa Marta has a not too bad weather window now, so here we are, underway.

Sailing is so dependant on weather, sometimes you just have to go....
Tugboat Beach Curaçao

Definitely worth a look. I never would've ever thought an oil drill rig site would have such wonderful sea life nearby, even though we knew of its existence.

Looking forward to visiting it again, maybe after some school work on Monday
The floating bridge
of Willemstad

The customs office is on the far left
Aww thanks for the recommendations.
Geoff is still asleep in the cockpit as I keep watch (thank goodness for autohelm).

The moon just disappeared, so it's kinda dark. In an hour, it'll be sunrise.

There's a few boats out here waiting for the sun to rise & then to come into shore, including a large cruise ship.
Don't do any big changes right before a passage. The watermaker "fix" didn't work.

Geoff gets seasick & can't do the cooking so that falls on me mostly.

Routine is very important.

There's a need for more warm clothes, nighttime is quite cold when on deck, below deck it's hot though
Land.... after a few days without any land in sight...

Have to people in a few hours 😂
It's really nice to be out of the swell (which gets understandably higher as soon as the sun sets) & in the shadow of the island. We're only doing 3knots, but that's perfect to make water & slowly move south towards port for check-in
Yep, this is nothing compared to what lies ahead too
Off the coast of Curacao now

3.26am, slowly moving towards Willemstad
