I loved “This Princess Kills Monsters” by Ry Herman and the ebook is on sale for only $1.99!

It’s a mashup fairytale retelling which pokes fun at society’s strict (and outdated) gender norms, roles, and rules.

Funny, witty, clever, heartwarming, action packed, feminist, and very queer🌈📚💙

Other books I very much enjoyed during September included:

BEAUTYLAND by Marie-Helene Bertino
BRIGHTON ROCK by Graham Greene
THE POTENCY OF UNGOVERNABLE IMPULSES by Malka Older

Just finished this in 2 days, it was so good! I love how the fairy-tale/fairy-tale elements were woven throughout the story and there were so many genuinely funny moments. I really enjoyed how the story handled complicated family relationships. Highly recommend! 5/5 ⭐
Hi, Dave! So glad to hear you're enjoying the book!

Gnoflwhogir is a name I made up; I didn't want her to have a human one. In terms of pronunciation, however, it's intended to be spoken as if written in Welsh -- all consonants pronounced, and "w" is a vowel.
Other fantastic books I read last month:

THE DEVILS by Joe Abercrombie
A TERRIBLY NASTY BUSINESS by Julia Seales
I CAN FIX HER by Rae Wilde
WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE? by Sophie Kinsella
THE VALKYRIE by Kate Heartfield
THISTLE AND THYME by Sorche Nic Leodhas
NOTES FROM A REGICIDE by Isaac Fellman

Edinburgh Fringe is coming to an end. Tomorrow, I will post the widely ignored Ry Fringe Awards! But for tonight, I will just pay homage to the best shows of the past week. I saw 16, bringing the total to 36. And there were a lot of brilliant shows this week, so I will just mention my top three:

Finished This Princess Kills Monsters while on the beach. A really delightful, witty, laugh out loud book. Loved the characters and would happily read 100 books in this world.

(Sorry for the crummy photo, I'm awake at 7am on vacation and everyone else is wisely asleep.)
