Specifically when Cohn was playing a preview of the game someone in chat said “what if his Malk insanity delusion is that he isn’t really a detective but he’s so gone he thinks he’s in a noir at all times” and yeah I would lose it if that’s cannon.

Fabien isn’t perfect for Malk players I’m sure but I’ve heard some pretty funny takes on how playing through his memories could fill that void. So I am hoping being psy-linked to a Malk who is dripping in noir really pays off.

It just needs to understand its own identity, the world building, the roleplay, the aesthetic is there hopefully it has enough length maybe a good 30-50 hours depending on side content that adds to it. And some alternate decisions to explore.

Yeah I didn’t have the means to play the original but I’ve checked out more than enough on it since and it isn’t like itself was considered a GOAT it mainly picked up recognition from modders fixing it. I’d like to believe this has a chance, Dead Island 2 escaped dev hell and was fun too.

More importantly the thing I think most people appreciated from the original and want in RPGs looks intact and well represented here where you can choose a path to roleplay and the game world is created to reward you reactively. It’ll be interesting to see if it does have branches to explore.

I’ve watched enough gameplay on the first I get the nostalgia but it definitely has some jank going on, it looks like exactly what I expect it to be and I’ll be happy with that expectation. The original issues I’ve had with some animations and gameplay in previews looks good now.

I am beyond sold on how reactive the world is to your choice of clan here, the way NPCs and kindred react to “who” you are in these trailers is exactly what I originally expected with life path choices in Cyberpunk.

Tuesday can’t get here soon enough.
