I like wildlife, and wildlife gardening in particular. I want to know what comes to my garden during the day and at night (moths, V61). Amateur photographer. South-East Yorkshire, UK.

A recently reared Vapourer moth. It's unfortunate that its wing is slightly damaged. I didn't anticipate the adult moth emerging until next year, so I was a little surprised to see it a few weeks ago.

The Vapourer (Orgyia antiqua).
Naturally, I had to take a picture of a Merveille du Jour without concentrating on its most photographed aspect.

Lovely shot. A Grey would be new for my garden.
On Tuesday morning, the trap must've had fifteen or more Epirrita species in and around it. I have not yet seen any of these #moths at home, but when it comes to catching the moths that are already active in other locations, V61 usually lags behind by almost a month.

Epirrita dilutata agg.
One more of Monday night's three Merveille du Jours. It was totally unnatural for me to stage and take pictures of moths in Yearsley Woods. But I guess needs must when you're away from your home and dedicated shed to take photos in.

While taking pictures of moths, I've had a lot of happy accidents. I believe that's when I get some of my best shots. I especially like clicking away while allowing moths to move about on a leaf. I agree with you regarding the "green" form, but both shots work.
It had to be done. I was looking at What's Flying Tonight for my location, and the December Moth—one of my bogey moths—is appearing. I'm definitely not that fortunate. My home is surrounded by agricultural fields rather than woodland, and where I am now is next to a huge forest.
In North Yorkshire's Yearsley Woods, a Merveille du Jour on pine needles. In order to see my first Merv of the year, I had to book a holiday. I actually caught three of them.

I have a Barred Sallow too. My first of the year.
I'm on Merv-watch from inside an Airbnb tonight! You can never have too many.
Thanks. It's going to be a good night for both of us.
Correction. I now have two.
I've only gone and potted a Merv on my first evening on holiday near Helmsley, North Yorkshire! #teammoth
For #MothFaceFriday, a Square-spot Rustic attempted to trick me into believing it was dead a few days ago.

A couple of shots of one of the Green-brindled Crescents from this morning.

Four Green-brindled Crescents were in the trap this morning, so at least I had something to photograph today. But the first one I attempted to photograph was a very active little bugger, and it's now somewhere in my shed.

That brown one is really nice. I've not seen one like that before.
