blatant self-insert content doesn't work with hbr even if they choose charas who are likely to hit on/spoil everyone. this isn't completely on wfs though (not defending them ofc bc they clearly went ahead with it) but there seems to be the notion that this is okay since key usually sells such stuff

for literally years, even prior to joining the military, which goes against the big theme of "these non-humans are also capable of change". so while i do love 31E and their dynamic, i think it's hindering the members' growth at this point. they're all too codependent and that isn't a good thing

i think they all get fun interactions with other members (even niina's most important relationship is with asami) but at the end of the day, they all go back to 31E and 31E's current dynamic is way too safe and kind of stagnant? it doesn't really change the way other squads' do and has been the same

tbh niina is a character that i think needs some serious content to really flesh her out. her event was on the right track but i feel like she can't really grow as a character as long as she's with 31E and playing support to accommodate others

contrast minori and tell her that she can like cute things too while being sporty. niina's past of "she stopped being a tomboy bc she made her sisters worry" shouldn't be taken positively though. sure she should have learned from the experience but reworking your entire identity to accomodate others

also she's the inverse of niina yeah but niina doesn't retain any tomboyish traits so at the end of the day, both sisters end up being "wants to be more girly" just that niina succeeded while minori is in this weird spot. would have been more fun if niina was a girly girl with a boyish streak to

honestly they could do so much with minori's whole "wants to be more girly" thing because she isn't the trope played straight and comes with interesting subversions bc we know that she used to be more girly as a child but the way they execute it ends up making it look like the same old trope

things like this are what sow the seeds of distrust and they act all wishy-washy to keep everyone pleased and end up pleasing no one. they should work on their player retention problem first and try to keep the existing fans happy before trying to pull new fans who are not going to stay

they're all promo in the eyes of businessmen because people should be able to immediately read about any character who has caught their eye. who cares about the continuity of the narrative when gacha players typically only read about a select few charas. which is fine usually but not in HBR

and please stop trying to imitate BA when HBR's genre is different. HBR has its own strengths so understand what they are and capitalise on those instead? why couldn't you have released drama CDs? because they couldn't act as promo of course! this is also most likely why events are all post ch1-2

in a grand way despite them being completely ooc. same with diva, they gave her a fancy "this is the protagonist of HBR!" caption which made tomoriru joke that people would start the game expecting a long-haired beauty only to get surprised when ruka turns out to be a short-haired ikemen instead

HBR is to think that HBR has such self-insert content and get into it. it's the same reason the yuina unison bothered me to this extent because they picked the popular pretty girl and the popular handsome girl (both are girlcrush type of charas) and paired them up for "yuri" and then advertised it

anyway i thought about why this specific thing bothered me more than home screen lines and i think it's because this isn't just fanservice imo. i usually try to tolerate fanservice. but this feels like they're whoring out the charas fr to bring in new fans. they want people who have no idea what
