I just explained davening / shuckling to my partner as "religiously-sanctioned stimming".

I just managed to get "Dynamic Duo", I'm very pleased with myself :D

Has anyone already written a pretentious article about frogs as a versatile symbol for various political / social movements in the 21st century? Cause if not I might have to.

When I went into #ChoiceofGames’ Jewish shtetl-themed text adventure ‘The Ghost and the Golem’, I expected to do one, maybe two playthroughs and then put it down. I'm now coming up on 10+ playthroughs and I’m still going.

I counted 26 instances of people being harassed for using the "correct" bathroom under the guidance.

Who could have seen this coming.

A new report from TransActual shows that trans and cisgender people face job loss, violence, vigilantism and wholesale exclusion following the Supreme Court Ruling and EHRC guidance.

Read the report at: tinyurl.com/trans-segreg...

#Trans #Transgender #Nonbinary #EqualityAct #EHRC #TransRights
Text Reads: “I was denied access to female lounge because of being transgender

I felt upset, alienated and othered. I was invited by other women patients to take part in a spa evening, but I was unable to join them because the hospital directors would not allow me to be in a female space. The patients were upset and outraged on my behalf, they felt it was unjust.

I felt like a hole had opened up, that I was a freak and not right for society.”

#writingcommunity, what are your *practical* tips for getting past perfectionism?

Things like exercises, rituals, communities, specific writing books -- anything that isn't just "Stop being perfectionist / 1st draft should be bad / get words on page."

I know these things; I want to act on them.

One of my favourite things about watching TV with my partner is their compulsive need to know where all the actors went to school.

Bonus fun every time they go "Ugh, RADA, of course."

I'm back in the archives (The Times this time) and I keep getting jump-scared by the name of this play from 1931.

I'm watching Andor purely because that gifset of the revolution boy with the big forehead and curly hair talking about oppression kept coming up on my feeds.

On ep 4 so I've met the revolutionary cinnamon roll in question. I'm not much of a Star Wars person but this series is pretty good so far.

you ever realise your self-worth is reliant on you being one of the crazies who knows how to manage their symptoms and not make people uncomfortable and the second you slip on that all your supposed self-acceptance goes out the window and you feel unworthy of oxygen

Life in the UK is absurd. I'm checking the bus app to see where my bus is and it's waiting at Saxondale. That's not a place buses get stuck at it's a place where dragons get slain. Nonsense country.

The EHRC – the body which is meant to protect our human rights – is proposing guidance which would turn the Equality Act into a bathroom ban. If this becomes law, it would force trans people out of public life.

And terrifyingly - this is all happening behind closed doors 🧵
Don't let them take away our rights behind closed doors

The EHRC's proposed Code of Practice would devastate trans+ lives and put everybody at risk.

This trans bathroom ban is set to become law with no debate, no scrutiny and no vote in Parliament.

We have to act now.

"Alright, I'm off to bed, none of any of these words are in the Talmud (not even the Midrash), we need Moshiach now, I'm gonna go hide in the Chabad tunnels, I'm out of Jewish memes, good night"

Text:

Rain and hot tears soaked my cheeks. My scarf was heavy on my head. I pulled it down. Someone splashed past, shooting me a wary look from under his hood. I recognised him as the brewer from whom my father bought his schnapps.

How soon, he must have thought, has the mad Jew’s daughter gone mad herself with grief.

If you want to flood the Committees with requests to scrutinise Dr Mary-Ann Stephenson on trans rights, do it now!
She is due to be appointed the new chair of the EHRC
The pre-appointment scrutiny session is tomorrow (see thread below).

Would you keep reading from this opening?

Tentatively having another go at my novel 'Frankenstein's Golem.

Text:

“Why doesn't your father come himself?” asked the porter at Ingolstadt University.

Because he's dead beneath the ground, and has been less than a week, yet instead of sitting shiva here I am chasing up his debts.

I didn't say that, because as useless as my father had been, he did leave me with a few good lessons. One of them was to never let a goy know your bargaining position, especially if it's a weak one. I didn't know if the porter would know the ins and outs of Jewish residency permits, if he could figure out that my time left in Ingolstadt was limited by the Prince’s patience. But why risk it?

“He’s busy,” I replied, unblinking.

There, let him think me the messenger of an important scholar with little time on his hands, rather than the beggar daughter of a dead madman.
