Side note: They showed & discussed that film in my Civil Engineering 101 college class - it certainly made an impression & its lesson, that we engineers hold people’s lives in our hands, has stayed with me throughout my career.

It looks to me like she’s making a smart political move, buttering up Trump to stay in his good graces, so he doesn’t turn away from her or her cause in jealousy. I can’t really blame her.

CA is a big state (~30 M people) & isn’t solid blue - most rural areas are red. It can offset several red states.
