🚨 We need your help! 🌿

Today, we're launching a fundraiser as part of our Royston Museum Goes Green Project. Our aim: to replace our ageing boiler with air source heat pumps and more efficient heating for the Museum, whilst also reducing our carbon emissions.

"The visit was fantastic. It engaged the children well and promoted lots of opportunities for curiosity and exploration." 🥰

This week, we've explored toys through history with pupils from Meldreth Primary School and travelled back in time to prehistoric Britian with pupils from St Mary's Primary School where we made our own Stone Age tools from soap!

Our Spark! young artists had a great time exploring symbolism this afternoon and created their own pictures thinking about objects, colours and what they represent.

There's such an amazing creativity and vision to them! Some of the sketches, like this one, have fabric swatches attached.

Today’s #OnlineArtExchange is glamour. 💃

Our collection includes sketches by costume designer Richard Croft, who worked on a range of shows including Dr Who and Blackadder.

These are just 3 of his many glamorous designs. We believe the red dress was for the 1986 Blankety Blank Christmas Special!

Shocking update from our Curator! 😱

Queen Anne accidentally shot and killed Jowler whilst hunting. 😭
roystonmuseum.bsky.social
It's #WorldAnimalDay.

Jowler was King James VI & I's favourite hunting dog and a constant presence at his court in Royston.

However, one day in December 1604 he went missing! (Jowler, not James)

Our Playtime! school workshop looks at toys through history and the kids are always amazed at how some toys they recognise and play with today, have been played with for hundreds of years!
