It may be semantics now, but 24 years ago it was an insidious attempt to manipulate the narrative & sway public opinion in Bush's favor. They haven't changed at all. It's still the same ideology doing the same thing. Those on 93 should be honored with the truth. YMMV.

Correct. It was the GOP narrative that the White House was the target in an attempt to garner sympathy & courage points for Bush. Same old deceptive song & dance. Now, even people here repeat it. It came out years later that the Capitol was the real target...

I'm seeing this accepted quite a bit on Bluesky.
The fact was that initial reports had the White House being targeted - mostly to garner sympathy for Bush at the time. Later, it came out that it was not the White House but the Capitol that was the target...

While I agree with the sentiment here, initial reports were that the White House was a target - to garner sympathy for Bush. It came out later that the actual target was the Capitol. But something tells me this ship has sailed on that point.

I agree with you. Electronic voting (brought on by the 2000 election) was the best thing that ever happened to them. Why change when you can manipulate. The destruction of the East Wing is a harbinger.

I think there's a good chance the files have been tampered with & the GOP is playing rope-a-dope. Stalling the swearing in, getting Dems all bothered & accusatory. Then later, they release the files & Trump's name is nowhere. The talking points will write themselves. Prepare for that possibility.

I don't believe this for a second. It would be impossible to keep the demolition of any part of the WHITE HOUSE under wraps.
They wanted this out. Especially now, following the massive No Kings protests. The symbolism of this destruction is what Trump wants the country to see.
