Spring is nice when you want to quickly whip together a demo project, but it sucks donkeyballs when it comes to professional, year-over-year upkeep. It spreads through your modules like a running 3 year old holding a dripping syrup pancake.

Said it before but I will say it again: Using Spring or Spring Boot in an application, or even worse: in a library or module will make it practically impossible to debug or upgrade. Use as little dependencies as you can get away with (which rules Spring Framework out right from the start).

"Show me your code and I'll show you how your project is managed" is still true, even if the team is using AI. There is no technical solution for bad organization. Garbage in is garbage out.

This is your reminder that if you are making any preparations for a wilder post-whatever world, you need to ditch any and all modern vehicles. For the price of one of these, get yourself a small parking lot full of early-90s Toyota LandCruisers.

Wow Raspberry Pi installs Home Assistant OS from the net onto my NVMe drive, and fast! Amazing how far it has come from lengthy manual disk image writing on a Linux PC.

Writing disk images to NVMe drives. Whatever works 😁

Yes that is a hassle. I have a USB-C to ethernet, hdmi, usb-a converter that does the job for me (I need physical Ethernet regularly). I am happy they reinstated the HDMI port, but for the rest it is adapters 😒

I do love Linux, but for servers mostly. I've never gotten used to any of the Window managers on Linux, it almost always feels clunky or out of place. Same for Windows, things seem to be out of place for me. But then again, many people feel that way about MacOS, so it's mainly whatever works for you

I'm still loving MacOS and the Apple hardware. It easily out-performs ALL amd laptops at work (Windows and Linux alike), and the battery lasts a complete workday. It's just that sometimes the designers seem to change stuff that's perfect, and not fix the stuff that could be improved. Oh well :-)

Somehow I seem to be "miss-clicking" more often with the new MacOS mouse pointers. The focus points are off, or my brain judges it differently. Did anyone succeed in restoring the old mousepointers? There was nothing wrong with them. (Bonus points for reducing corner radius ;-) )

Goodbye kid. You have a lot to learn about the world.

I'm not. I just don't share your opinion. It's fine if you like ipv6, it's fine if you promote it, but if you are going to insult people because they don't share your opinion then go to X where gatekeeping is the norm. "Go read noob" is not inviting or helpful (and also wrong in this case).

If you are here to insult people instead of helping I would advise you to go to X. Goodbye.

I have. I work in IT. Most stuff is still written for ipv4, and more often than not stuff starts working when we switch off ipv6 (just as I recently did with pangolin and crowdsec). It doesn”t play well with ipv4 and adds extra BGP config work. Ipv6 will take a loong time to get to 100% I think.
