Well, to be fair, the US has long had huge disparities between rich and poor, such as the Gilded Age, etc. But, yes, today is the worst disparity in the country's history.
Even though Halligan purported to avoid revealing classified details (in violation of Rule 6(e) of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure), her comments touched on that boundary, risking a breach of confidentiality--highly unprofessional conduct in public-facing communications.
This is a flabbergasting story. Halligan's extraordinary and likely illegal behavior speaks to the incompetence of the Trump administration and his penchant for appointing people whose main loyalty is to him, as opposed to fitness for office.

A must win for the Gunners. A good showing against Palace will put them in a good place to widen their lead at the top.
The disparity between rich and poor is ruining this country. In 2022, the top 1% held almost a third of all wealth, while half the people held less than a tenth. Trump's draconian tax cuts are only going to worsen the difference. There will come time when we just won't accept that any longer.
But too cowardly and sly to run the actual Hakenkreuzflagge up the flagpole. You know they want to...
Everything they do is a dogwhistle for their depraved and degenerate morality.
Trump is an insult to every President's legacy. He is an affront to the office itself.
A parallel universe or mixing history's timelines...?
Consider, in 2024, there were 173.85 million people registered to vote in the United States. Since 3.5% of 173.85 million ~ 6.1 M, political theory suggests we have crossed the 3.5% threshold. OK, it's only a "theory" but certainly things are looking very bad for the Trump regime.
Remember the No Kings protests right? About 7 million people were said to turn out. Now recall the 3.5% rule. (A concept from political science that suggests a nonviolent movement can succeed by mobilizing 3.5% of a population.)
Trump is no "conservative". He is a radical right-winger, going on full-blown fascists. No wonder his minions are banging on about the mythical "organization" Antifa.
The Pentagon is pissed about a work of fiction. Hegseth must be wetting his pants worrying that his Commander-in-Thief will watch it and think it is real.
ICE = Incel Cowardly Egomaniacs
Just the fact that they wear face-masks while violating the law proves they are cowards. ICE = Incel Cowardly Egomaniacs
This monstrosity, an affront to tradition (hence true conservatism) is a monument to his vanity and hubris. It's also sticking the finger up at anyone who thinks they can stop him from violating the property and sensibilities of the people of the United States.
Of course, there will soon come a time when they run out of the low hanging bodies to throw into a deportation jail then out of the country. Then who will they come for?

Trump is testing people’s patience and the legal apparatus to see if he can get away with illegal killings. #DeathOnFifthAvenue
At least those children are alive…
Maybe Sulzberger (NYT owner) has been getting some heat from Trump's minions and is slowly moving over to the Dark Side with propaganda-lite lest his rag suffers the mass exodus of subscribers as happened with WaPo and LA Times (which actually admitted to its losing proposition!).
L.A. Times, Washington Post see subscription cancellations over not endorsing in presidential race
The Washington Post has lost about 8% of its readers and the L.A. Times 1.8%. But some argue to stay with the newspapers for their roles in reality checking Donald Trump.

Exactly. Trump’s extrajudicial executions are mere performative politics masquerading as being tough on drugs, whereas he’s just bullying a country that can’t fight back.
