@dcattorneygeneral.bsky.social lawsuit against Petra is a win for tenants. For too long, slumlords have exploited the housing system at the expense of our neighbors. We will fight to protect residents and ensure fair housing for all.

During this federal takeover, I know residents have a lot of questions and concerns.

Come hear from DC government officials, MPD, and on-the-ground community organizations about the increase of the federal presence.

Today I joined neighbors, advocates, and leaders at the Capitol to push back against this attempted takeover and demand it come to an end.

Hey Neighbors,
Quick update- the MPD Townhall will take place virtually now.

Whether we are in person or online, let's be active and engaged so we can understand what the federalization of @dcpolicedept means for our community.

I'm here to help. Looking forward to connecting with you.
Let’s come together for a community conversation about what’s next for our city. Join me, Ty Hobson Powell, and Yaddi, Long Live GoGo founder this Tuesday, August 19 from 7–7:30PM on IG Live.
We welcome partners who share our mission to protect residents and build safer neighborhoods. I will continue working with those committed to good-faith progress, because our city’s safety and fairness depend on it.
And Congress needs to do its part — starting by restoring D.C.’s budget so we can fully fund the public safety, housing, and health resources our residents deserve.
Homelessness should never be criminalized. Just because someone is unhoused does not mean they deserve to be thrown out. This is a crisis, not a crime. We have resources and availability right now, and we encourage everyone who is unhoused to come inside and connect with the help that’s here.
We must also invest in what matters — Medicaid, housing, and other critical supports should never be cut.
To our youth: the data is clear. Locking kids up for petty crimes often makes them more likely to reoffend. Detention is not a solution. True justice means protecting our youth while holding them accountable.
