🚧 I’m also pushing for funding to complete the second half of Pooley Green Road resurfacing with delivery planned for 2026. (6/7)
💷 On 16 Oct, Surrey officers submitted a bid for £600k CIL funding (developers pay per m² of new homes → local improvements).

Future bids will also target the Govt’s £291m Active Travel fund announced in Feb 2025. (5/7)
🔎 Current proposals include:
• Safer junctions & cycleways
• Parking bays on Roundway & Rowan Ave
• Public realm upgrades at Pooley Green Shops
• Restarting crossing at Thorpe Lea/Pooley Green roundabout (4/7)
🚸 Wesley Drive, Egham: new raised zebra crossing + reduced speed outside Manorcroft School. Set to be delivered end of Oct/early Nov, making school journeys safer.

In 2024 we promised this scheme. It was delayed to 2025 to allow Thames Water to finish major works, incl. new water & drainage pipes — something myself, Rhys Davies & Cllr Ricky Milstead had been lobbying for.

Over £65k match funding secured by your Labour councillors.

For 15 years, the Hythe Medical Practice has operated from temporary cabins. We knew that wasn’t good enough — so we acted.

The new GP surgery will be 4x the size, purpose-built, and fit to serve the community for decades to come.
This is what delivery looks like.

Real investment. Real change.
Led by your Labour & Co-op councillors — working for Egham Hythe, Pooley Green, and wider Runnymede.

🔧 Coming soon:
• 8 clinical and consulting rooms
• Modern space for staff and patients
• Primary, secondary, and community care
• Built to support 7,600+ local residents

This is local care, properly invested in.
This is the result of months of work — engaging NHS partners, pushing for the Hythe Centre to be repurposed, and making the case at Council.

We said we’d fight for better healthcare in Egham Hythe and Pooley Green — and we are.
We promised better local healthcare — and we’re delivering.

Together, we’ve secured the next step for a bigger, better GP surgery in Egham Hythe.

ePetition - Stop the New Booking System at Camberley and Lyne Recycling Centres - Surrey County Council
mycouncil.surreycc.gov.uk
4/5)
Runnymede has 3 Conservative Cabinet members helping run the County Council.

Two now claim they “didn’t know” this was happening.

Either they weren’t told — or they weren’t paying attention.

Residents deserve better.
3/5)
Why this matters:
• Makes recycling harder for busy households
• Disadvantages older & vulnerable residents
• Won’t fix traffic
• Creates postcode inequality across Surrey
2/5)
The new system means:
📅 Advance 15-min slot required
🔟 Max 10 visits/month
🚫 No booking = No entry

Residents aren’t asking for barriers — they want access.
🛑 PETITION NOW LIVE
Surrey Conservatives are forcing a strict booking system on Camberley & Lyne (Chertsey) Recycling Centres from 11 August.

It’s unfair. It’s unnecessary. And now you can formally object.

5️⃣ 📝 More details on the Tory plan:
• Trial runs: 11 Aug – 10 Nov
• Bookings open: 28 July
• You can book online, phone, or SMS (office hours only)
• 10 bookings/month per resident
4️⃣ 📣 What are we doing about it?

Labour’s @CllrRobKing is launching a formal petition via the official Surrey CC website on Monday.

We’re playing by the rules — and we’re ready to fight this properly.
3️⃣ And here’s the kicker…

Runnymede has three Conservative cabinet members on Surrey County Council.
Yet TWO claim they didn’t know this was happening.

So either:
1️⃣ They’ve lost control
or
2️⃣ They didn’t read their briefings
