without sublime front man Marc Almond, but equally Marc Almond couldn’t have done it without Dave Ball. Do yourself a favour and stick on Say Hello, Wave Goodbye this evening. I am going to.
#RIPDaveBall. I know there have been reformations, and there is an album due next year, but essentially Soft Cell only had a couple of years of great success. What was it, 1981 through 1984? Doesn’t matter. What wonderful, tuneful, brilliant soundscapes and songs. True that he couldn’t have done it
I spy with my little eye, something beginning with... 'L'. (Is it Lens Wipes?) It is. You're good at this game, Rob. (Thanks.) Love you Rob. (Love you too.) ❤️ (❤️❤️)
Dan Brown had done a Richard Bachman, à la Stephen King, and was actually John Twelve Hawks. True? Don’t know. John Twelve Hawks might be me. Or Prince Andrew. Or Kerry Katona. Don’t know.
If he is Dan Brown, I still won’t know even after reading the book, because I have never read any Dan Brown
Hey! #AWS down? Apps not working? Try a book. Can’t hack a book. True, when they were very young my vile siblings destroyed lots of my books because, apparently, ripping up books is fun for little kids.
I haven’t forgotten. My revenge will come. One day. Just waiting for the right moment.
Complex film dealing with complex ideas. Difficult film. The kind of film that leaves you with more questions than answers. Don’t think Julia Roberts has ever been more serious in a role.
#AfterTheHunt. When college professor Alma’s colleague is accused of sexual assault, her life goes into a tailspin.
To be fair this was not the film I had planned to see today. I was going to see a piece of Keanu Reeves fluff, that no doubt I would have enjoyed very much and forgotten the second I
it early as part of the LFF on tour. Urge you to see it as it proves that Brendan Fraser’s renaissance wasn’t just a one off. He’s really good. Funny, goofy, charming. All the things that made us love him in the first place. Shame he was away for so long.
#RentalFamily. An unemployed actor living in Japan starts to work for a company called Rental Family. You want a temporary family member - husband, wife, girlfriend, boyfriend - they can supply that for you. But don’t become emotionally involved.
Think this is released in January. I managed to see
much missed Electric Cinema. RIP. Won’t talk about it in great detail again. Will just say that the sequel is out in November and I am pathetically excited by the prospect. Had to buy it and did.
Some words. Brilliant, hilarious, hyper real, ultra violent. One of the best action films of the last
#Sisu. Finland, 1944. The Nazis are in retreat. When they come across a gold prospector, and try to steal his gold, they will regret it for what remains of their very short lives.
Saw this film a couple of years ago. Might even be one of the last films I saw at the
new morsel of film trivia, that I was previously unaware of, that co-star John Shea was one of only three actors Spielberg screen tested for the part of Indiana Jones, the others being Harrison Ford and Tom Selleck. It’s a famous story of how Selleck was cast and then couldn’t do the film. Look it
Watched a perfectly dreadful film last night called #Hussy, which starred the inestimable #HelenMirren during the period where she was saving film producers lots of money on their clothing budgets. Despite the quality of the film, an uplifting experience in many ways.
Saw a #Christmas shirt. Not a jumper, or a sweatshirt, but a shirt. Haven’t worn a shirt in years. Will I wear a Christmas shirt. I don’t know. It’s a crisis.
been trying to remake this for years. I know Kristen Whig was going to play the daughter and either Jack Nicholson or Bill Murray were being courted as the father. I’m sure it would be great, but doubt it would touch the original.
Taken me all this time to buy it. Not disappointed, in fact still a wonderful film with brilliant performances and jolting and crazy turns in the plot. The birthday party scene is a stone classic.
Touching film, though. Emotional and a bit sad. Lost time. You will never get it back.
