No Jim should have stuck to art. He's the master of the "Comic book" style, that even now sort of informs how we think comics should look. But writing? Not so much. And Claremont returns are important to level set. The problem is he stays too long and suddenly tentacle porn.

Yeah Claremont leaving really pulls the breaks off for good and bad. I cringe when I see like 688 people credited with plot/script/ pencils though. It was a case of too many cooks. The best plots and art are Fabian or Jim Lee left to really cook.

Agreed, Morrison started strong but ultimately couldn't stick the landing. I think the 90s suffered from trying to either be just like Claremont or the opposite. We get AoA which is great. But also clunky Liefeld plots that go no where. by the 00s they were just happy to have someone with a plan

Yeah Lobdell doesn't get enough credit. As far as Jean I think the issue was that she stayed dead for so long. I did appreciate that "Magneto" did it, if only because logically even Jean has *some* limit otherwise what's the point?

Xorneto was horrendous but offing Jean and rehabbing Emma has paid off. It's more of a mixed bag than either side admits. That said they best not touch Mags again.

I've been deaf in one ear since I was like 7 but people *to this day* will look me dead in the face and say "no you're not" until I insist they scream in my deaf ear and they back down.

Free read Tuesday was completely just finishing 1970 off 3 days early. So I could move the day I finish the month off to Tuesdays. Finished a year in 12 weeks and hopefully 1971 will take the same time at a month a week. Random Crystal from a post coming later.

I think the Morrison Emma sort of makes sense? Maybe not for Scott (again the body swap with Storm would be a hard pass for me) but for Emma transitioning into a sort of anti-hero who wants to bounce on that Slim Summers Schlong is ...relatable.

I mean I think Jern is the T-Swift of the X-Men, the eternal Prom Queen who can do no wrong, even when she's doing super extra-bad wrong. But I accept that Emma post-Morrison gets some WILD plots to "fix" her previous behavior.
