my partner is still eligible, and despite multiple immunocompromising conditions, this (because it is counted as immunosuppressing) appears to be the actual basis. so yeah, if this is you, check in.
riotstarz.bsky.social
something some trans woman pals might be interested to know, courtesy of someone on heart meds: spironolactone makes you eligible for an nhs covid jab.
riotstarz.bsky.social
Aiui *not* even immunocompromised, but specifically immunosuppressed, which is actually more restrictive.
riotstarz.bsky.social
Oh no I 100% agree: by telling you what you need to know, I mean the fact that that is their instinctive and committed reaction, even after decades of actual fascist USA coup attempts in the country. & that that uncritical instinct is so widespread, even amongst ppl who believe they're not liberals.
riotstarz.bsky.social
She is explicitly pro-Trump, pro-genocide, begging for Venezuela to be invaded by the USA and to privatise all their state assets. That really is all you need to know, and honestly just as much tells you all you need to know about the liberals cheerleading her.
riotstarz.bsky.social
Without any love for Maduro, she's a right wing coup-demanding scum supported by the USA & described as a "democracy activist" like every other Venezuelan opposition leader for decades, even the explicitly fascist ones. Liberals are celebrating the win bc they think it's some kind of snub to Trump.

I'm not here to argue about murderers and rapists, except to say that the prison system does not reduce murder and rape, and often facilitates it. But either way, even the mild reformist suggestions you make would require *fewer* prison places, not more.
riotstarz.bsky.social
A lot of people come out of prison and reoffend, not because they are fundamentally corrupt people, but because prison both hardens them and leaves them in circumstances where their options are even more restricted and desperate.
riotstarz.bsky.social
Nice as it is to see someone publicly name racism as racism, prisons are absolutely part of the racist functions of the state and there is zero "progressive" case for their expansion. We know why more prison places are being built, and it's not some natural, apolitical happenstance.
riotstarz.bsky.social
Zack. Can you get in contact with organisations fighting prison expansionism? The claim you made that we need more prison places is one that has been core to the policies of Labour and Tories, building mega prisons to accommodate criminalisation of immigration, protest & reactions to austerity.
riotstarz.bsky.social
see also the through line to when diane abbott as shadow home secretary was talking about tory cuts to police, security forces and border agents and the perpetual cheerleaders just kept cheering
riotstarz.bsky.social
fucken honestly. even if yr not devoted to prison abolition, you'd think "are the mega-prisons that the current and recent governments have been building to accommodate the criminalisation of immigration and protest and the effects of austerity good?" would be a question you considered at some point
riotstarz.bsky.social
Do you think prison reduces crime, John? Do you think it is a solution to crime? Do you think it is just? How does a policy of more prisons differ from what Tories and Labour have been pushing, as part of an explicitly hard-right agenda, or does it change if you say nice things alongside it?
riotstarz.bsky.social
Right???? Like sure, it's a decent change that anyone is talking about racist hate, but it's depressing to see basically everyone gloss over this.
riotstarz.bsky.social
heads up here's the latest saviour casually dropping that there needs to be more prison spaces.

I'm afraid only true patriots from the Christian god/ancient Norse gods' one true favoured nation go to Valheaven anyway, the rest of us are doomed to soy hell
riotstarz.bsky.social
I've got bad news for you, it isn't real, you can tell by the way some of the hair is too wispy at the edges

I getcha, but neither do other new money capitalists - not least because they wouldn't be invited to. Chappelle's money is based on being a public figure and making appearances, Buffett is exactly the same as any other capitalist, new or old, in trying to maximise, well, their capital.
riotstarz.bsky.social
Like, Warren Buffett's wealth has increased by $12.7bn this year. He might not personally appear for a mere million, or even ever have any reason to make public appearances, but everything he is involved in is still directed towards making more.
riotstarz.bsky.social
Idk I think it's more a source & scale of money thing. Rothschilds (or Rothschildren, one might say) aren't "hustling" in the way a mere multi-millionnaire whose money comes from performing & a public profile might. But they're certainly constantly leveraging their investments, as capitalists do.
riotstarz.bsky.social
I also enjoy "it is laughable that Dave Chappelle, a man who is extremely rich, would do anything that makes him richer"
riotstarz.bsky.social
they're right about domo and get ur freak on tho
riotstarz.bsky.social
Indeed I'd say it's not only adopted it, but has it by necessity at its core; because there is no way to create and maintain an ethnostate amongst an existing outgroup population that doesn't rely on ethnic cleansing in perpetuity.
riotstarz.bsky.social
aye and I agree with that, but I also think it's very apparent that the current discourse is openly eliding that and general antipathy to ai in defence of someone with vested interests who is explicitly arguing "you can't say ai isn't conscious, we're all just machines really"
riotstarz.bsky.social
the "clanker" shit is sus, but they are saying that hundreds of responses to that saying "this is fucking ridiculous and shitty", and pretty rarely using it or anything analogous, are obvious bigotry proving the original point
riotstarz.bsky.social
otoh assuming this is referring to a certain bsky staff's post, they are very clearly eliding this with the post they are quoting, and characterising responses to as bigotry, which is specifically about how machines have meaningful feelings and marginalisation and anti-ai sentiment harms it
