This is why renewables will be massive in the US regardless of the politics.

It’s cheap!
rickchasey.bsky.social
Right. I’m a middling Brit so I know SFA, but presumably this is a regulatory play rather than a “how do I run my infrastructure optimally” play.
rickchasey.bsky.social
I don’t understand the financial or business logic of building infrastructure in places where there is a shortage of a key resource for said infrastructure.

More buyers than sellers.

Amirite?

💪🏻Moral victory.

Guy who crashed & smashed up my car while it was parked denied he did it.

Police had no interest (obviously) but his insurer contested it.

Was due to give evidence in Court but they saw the evidence, settled his insurer accepting his fault

I hope his premium is fucked forever.

BESSENT ON SURGE IN GOLD PRICE: MORE BUYERS THAN SELLERS

Accusations of Luddite are likely accurate, but how on earth are these cars going to handle cyclists.

This ain’t America

You do miss out on absolute gems like this

And then you see how expensive half decent clothes are….

You see quality, others see “liability from American fuckheads who think climate change is a conspiracy”

Don’t you know I was on the most amazing (🤮) panel last week at the annual blah blah blah forum

I object to salespeople using their own mental health troubles as LinkedIn post material.

Stop it.

So let’s renationalise all infrastructure, amirite?

An unsustainable accumulation of debt across the rich world means there is a growing likelihood that bondholders will face two options—either of which will cause them pain

Miserable this statement is newsworthy.

Obviously.

"There is no doubt that the impact of Brexit has been severe and long-lasting", Rachel Reeves tells Sky News, as she suggests that taxes will now have to go up as a result to "make sure the numbers add up".

Must say I am always a fan of computer games where the fact that, to make it entertaining, you end up killing huge amounts of people, is taken into account as part of the plot.

You can’t get redemption in red dead, because you’re a murderous bastard.

Same in Last of Us

My confirmation bias is extremely happy this is conclusive
rickchasey.bsky.social
There is also some evidence (not conclusive) that even just building properties for the rich can lower overall property prices, as they still impact the supply positively.

(Who moves into the houses the rich move out of, to their new swanky pads?)

It doesn’t need to be “affordable” to help.
rickchasey.bsky.social
Yes! House builders need to make money on these things to want to build them.

Immediately declaring 20% of everything they built to be a net loss makes the profitability bar very high indeed!

Am quite sceptical of a chart that has Switzerland - the nation that only very recently made bribery illegal and with a financial services system designed specifically to service the most nefarious actors in the world - so high up on “democracy” criteria.

Another example cropped up this morning.

It is remarkable

So I am accumulating more and more anecdotes of material and consequential self censorship in climate research and in investment in the US.

I do really think the censorship issue is a proper one, and will, amongst other things, dramatically reduce the level of innovation in the US
