I didn't switch to Bluesky because I want to avoid right wing people with different opinions. I mainly want to get away from constant weird adverts, abusive comments, and a perverted algorithm that amplifies misinformation and hate speech.

And becoming Home Secretary makes turns emotionally shallow MPs in fascists. Usually it takes a while, but it shows what a shallow puddle Shabana Mahmood is that she's already frothing at the mouth after a few weeks.

It's even more damning now we know the boost in growth Labour are crowing about is only the result of immigration, and without factoring in immigration we'd be the slowest growing in the G7!

As a cyclist I'm forever seeing people blundering into oncoming traffic with their face buried in their phone. And of course it's the cyclists who always get blame for hitting them!

Indeed. And he wasn't even properly called Stalin, it was just one of his many shady pseudonyms.

And like most revolutionaries they weren't working class heroes - they were middle class social climbers with a chip on their shoulder. Both Lenin and Trotsky had comparatively wealthy families.

Only the middle classes have time for revolution, the workers are too busy surviving.

I can't find any reports of what happened, and the details here are sketchy, so I suspect there's more to this sacking, given the power of unions.

Last year a tube driver said "Free Palestine" on the tannoy whilst driving, he was suspended but reinstated.

London Underground driver who led pro-Palestine chant avoids being sacked
Transport for London said the driver has apologised to faith groups before being allowed to return to work

Lol. Personally I find it more offensive her saying "gay men are gay because they only have orgasms up their bum", which I can confirm is incorrect😎

The tears should be for the Sandy Hook families who still haven't received the damages he should've paid them years ago.

Obviously cis white men who drive Bentleys and carry £13,000 in cash in their pocket are an oppressed minority😎

Growth is nothing to boast about, it's easy to have high growth when you start at such a low level. It's median GDP per capita that counts: people in the UK are pretty poor compared with our competitors. #bbcpm

How is this Tory crap from Shabana Mahmood supposed to help integration, given even most BRITISH people don't write and speak English to an A-Level standard? It's just going to alienate migrants from flag shagging gammonflakes who can barely spell their own name! #bbcpm

Migrants will be required to pass A Level standard of English
Migrants will be required to pass tough new English language requirements under a law introduced in Parliament today.

They don't care about racism. They care about protecting their industry. I don't want to diss the poor girl, but it's interesting IPSO recruited a young girl from communist China to do the job of complaints officer.
richmountbasket.bsky.social
I looked up the poor girl doing compaints - she's Hong Kong Chinese, a recent law graduate and only been doing the job a few months. Ugh.
richmountbasket.bsky.social
Ah but it's not ALL races. Just the blackface ones. You know, like you used to see on telly in the 70s. And everyone loved that right?

*No-one* has the right to all my information except me. That right is enshrined, for now, in the Human Rights Act and the European Convention of Human Rights. The state should only be able to forcibly access private information if they demonstrate a legitimate prima facie cause, to a judge in court.

Got a reply to my complaint to IPSO about The Spectator's racist depiction of Palestinians and Palestine protests. Because it "discriminated against people of colour in general [and] did not relate to an individual", they don't consider it a breach of their code, and so they rejected my complaint!
richmountbasket.bsky.social
I'm sure I'm wasting my time, but I'm Currently reporting The Spectator to IPSO for their incredibly racist front page, depicting Palestinians using classic racist blackface imagery.

So you've got a Canadian "journalist" covering the trial of an Irish citizen, who lives in Spain and whose costs are being covered by a South African born migrant living in the United States.

Break out the flags lads....

Tommy Tit aside: charging you for terrorism if you refuse to give police your phone PIN is a frightening abuse of our civil liberties.
richmountbasket.bsky.social
I don't care about Tommy Tiny Tears. My objection is to the extremely worrying power that police have to demand access to your phone on the flimsiest grounds, without a court order, and if you say no they can charge you with terrorism. This puts all our freedom in serious danger.
richmountbasket.bsky.social
Bearing a legitimate Irish passport is not a crime these days, but he should've declared carrying £13k. Taking £10k+ out of the country without doing so is an offence, but it's not terrorism.

Searching your phone should require a warrant imo, just like searching your home.
