It would be their own choice either way--they've got more than enough caps and pedigree each to have whatever they choose. I doubt it would ever be combined but if either decided not to have one at all, that would also be their own choice not the USWNT's
Their only reasoning would be that Sarah Sherman is Jewish
You can really tell who didn't grow up/live in the Italian American areas of the country. If you're from CT or New Jersey (or Long Island) that Italian lady is every 3rd person you see at the Stop and Shop.
The necklace she has on is literally a cross lmao
It's what happens when you're a 3rd tier team in the priority list and dependent on men's teams. Sucks.
It's a scheduling nightmare. I don't get why people refuse to understand that. Multiple teams play on fields being used. Many more are in cities being used. Unless somehow every team will be playing in San Diego, Louisville, and Utah every week, there's no good solution.
And then Boston, too, right? And LA because BMO is going to be used by other teams as facilities. And also KC because their stadium's also being used as facilities. So every game will now be played in Utah and Louisville?
Yes, the World Cup and the MLB are the same. Do you *want* to look like a stupid American?
Also, again, the games in Seattle are on the same field the Reign play on.
They will be using them for training. And there will be disruptions to infrastructure beyond that. Why are you deliberately ignoring facts
Seattle*
LA
KC
Houston
NY/NJ
Bay
Boston*

Are all going to be displaced in some way or another. MLB isn’t using the same stadiums as soccer teams, which will be using the other 4 to practice.
Better to have teams play in the burbs in 6k capacity venues than to wait a month?
You realize that the reasoning is not because the World Cup is happening, but because it is happening HERE and their stadiums will be used for games and for practices. Seattle will be displaced the whole time, for example.
Should the Reign play at their 3k attendance practice field? Is that ideal?
Sorry, do you not know how much infrastructure is used during a World Cup? Every city in which games will be—which is many of them—will use stadiums either for games or for practice. Traffic will be wild. Everything will be a mess. It's wild to expect them to continue.
The NWSL does take a break for women's internationals. Are you dumb or just wrong
Kind of unfair to put things on Straus when I think it's Chelsea stealing Thompson away without giving Angel City literally a single chance to replace her with even a player of half her quality is the main issue
You can say that the NWSL doesn't have good officiating without blatantly lying about the quality of officiating elsewhere. Unfortunately, the NWSL has some of the best league officiating in all of women's soccer. I'm not saying it's good by pointing out that truth. I'm saying it's all bad.
This is such a stupid stupid post from you. It's insanely wrong on every measure, concern trolling for the sake of concern trolling.
Tell me you've never watched a WSL game without telling me. The refs ARE NOT substantially better. They're worse, if anything. Genuinely biased, without any VAR.
I just don't think they ever needed to name it after a person. Especially one who is alive and could do something shitty next week
The current NWSL trophies (shield and championship) both are very sharp looking. And expensive! I think Dan's complaint is about the name of the NWSL trophy being "the Championship Trophy" rather than something specific, but as I've said, I disagree
Designs change (as the NWSL's did into the Tiffany's one that exists now, which is much much better than it was for years before), but I don't see them being able to change the name.
I cut new leagues slack on trophy visual design but I find the name kind of tasteless. And I understand who Matheson is, just still find it tacky
Maybe you've felt this for years but this feels like an example of something that people would be mad about if the NWSL *did* do it but because the NWSL didn't and the NSL did, it's a great idea. If it was the "Alex Morgan Cup" people would rightly call that stupid. Same as the star design
Well, consider me in strong disagreement. It looks stupid and is rife with potential future issues to name things in "Stanley Cup" terms. It's the NWSL Championship Trophy. There's nothing to be improved on in that way. And they already improved its looks.
