Bovine TB has a devastating effect on farming families when it strikes. Liberal Democrat Rural Spokesperson @sarahdykeld.bsky.social understands this well, as a dairy farmer herself, and as someone who has visited farmers near Seaton recently.
It was really good to meet with nurses at @hospiceuk.bsky.social's drop-in yesterday. Hospice staff do fantastic work to support individuals and families. It is past time to end the glaring discrepancies that exist in NHS funding by postcode for hospice services.

PMQs today revolved around the term "threat". The Government's 2023 reply to the Intelligence and Security Committee's China report shines a light on it: assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6502c3...
Jhoots has not paid wages to some members of its staff for months. I'm glad to hear ministers are tightening the regulatory framework to ensure no pharmacy can conduct its business in this way in the future, but they also need to take a look at the case of Jhoots right now.
Digital ID presents myriad issues. From the Minister's reply, it seems that Government is proposing to do everything "in-house". Simple questions remain: what is the cost, and where would the money come from? Whatever the cost, it would be a waste - they should ditch this flawed proposal.
Memory cafes are uplifting for older people with dementia and their carers. My visit to Colyton and Colyford's brilliant Memory Cafe last week made plain to me that volunteers are a pillar of support in the absence of social care funding. www.midweekherald.co.uk/news/2553991...
Richard Foord: Memory café 'felt like climbing into a warm bath'

"Everyone who protested, wrote to their MPs, shouted at the TV...we have to work towards that two-state solution."

Such a casual disregard for staff and patients is unacceptable for any company, let alone one providing essential health services.

Alongside my colleague, Edward Morello, I have written to the Minister of State for Care, asking him to urgently look into Jhoots.

I met last week with representatives from Kings Garden in Honiton, who described the issues they face - which go far beyond a broken lift. Residents need to see action from their property managers. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I was very impressed by 22 year old Shaun Rowcliffe when I visited the new Isembard factory near Cullompton. Ambitious young people like Shaun can lead the way in advanced manufacturing - and in business more broadly. www.midweekherald.co.uk/news/2552858...

I take pride in the Union flag and the values it represents. Yet the everyday actions people take in their communities are to me most indicative of those values. As ever, think global, act local. www.midweekherald.co.uk/news/2552279...

Yesterday we heard renewables overtook coal as the world's largest source of electricity generation. We should celebrate this milestone, yet the Conservatives want to put that progress into reverse. @libdems.org.uk will always support clean energy: for people, for the country, and for the planet.

There are people right across our country, who have voted Conservative all their lives, but are now switching to the Liberal Democrats.
YouGov Poll - Liberal Democrats draw level with the Conservatives - both parties on 17%.
Today marks two years since the heinous attacks by Hamas on Israeli people. We need the hostages released - and for a sustainable solution to this conflict that recognises the security needs of Israelis and Palestinians alike.
A statement from Ed Davey reading:

"Two years ago, we watched in horror those appalling scenes of Hamas's evil terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 innocent people brutally slain, including hundreds of young people at a music festival. Others raped, sexually assaulted and mutilated. 251 people taken hostage, ripped away from their families.

"Those terror attacks also triggered a shocking rise in antisemitism here in the UK - a terrible scourge that took the lives of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at their synagogue last week.

"We stand in solidarity with British Jews, the people of Israel and Jewish communities around the world against terrorism and against antisemitism in all its forms.

"This cycle of violence has gone on far too long, caused far too much suffering, and claimed too many innocent lives.

"With new peace talks under way, we desperately hope that they will finally see the hostages returned home to their families, a lasting bilateral ceasefire, Hamas out of power in Gaza for good - and set us on the path to a two-state solution that offers both Israelis and Palestinians the peace and security they deserve."

I am horrified by the images of a mosque in Peacehaven burning after a suspected arson attack.

Everyone should be able to worship free from fear and terror.

Islamophobia is totally unacceptable. Those who spread hatred and incite violence against Muslim communities must stop.
I walked back across the footbridge. It may have taken longer than we wanted, but it's great to have a solid, well-constructed bridge back in place. Great work, Ottery St Mary Town Council, DCC Councillor Jess Bailey, and all who helped make it happen.

Clark at Ottery Men's Shed showed me the design for the Tipton St John Community notice board, which looks great. There was a great atmosphere at the Shed this afternoon - and plenty of sawdust!
