I ditched Spotify at the start of the year and have since spent WAY more money on bandcamp and second-hand CDs from ebay and charity shops. But I'm also having WAY more fun and enjoying music WAY more.

Vinyl Villans maybe? Close to train as well, if that helps. There’s at least one dedicated music charity shop, in Stockbridge. Think it’s Oxfam. Those are the ones I know.

Which is maybe fine - they don't hide it and it's the kind of place I'm not sure you'd get without big university/corporate funding. Was a bit surprising nevertheless.

"The CMA's proposals included making vets reveal if they are part of a large group"

Had to spend a bit of time in a fancy referral-only vet hospital a while back. With a pet, I mean, I'm not a dog or anything.

Anyway, out of curiosity, I looked at who owned it. Mars. Yes, as in Mars Bars.
Vets should be made to publish prices, competition watchdog says
Vet prices have risen at nearly twice the rate of inflation, the Competition and Markets Authority found.

You might think controlling GB News gives you huge influence over UK politics – especially on the right. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, as we reveal in this week's issue of @thenewworldmag.bsky.social

Original Iain will be back in therapy after that!

I can't find any evidence of my local council denying this is happening.

Been playing Void Crew solo the last few days. It's a LOT of fun - challenging, yet not without progress - but is very much co-op first and playing solo feels a bit like a demo version - you've got an idea of what the game *should* be, but you definitely do not get the full experience.

In terms of tax, or liability insurance, or taking card payments, or…

Tax is the only one I really know. Pretty straightforward, just keep business income/outgoings separate. I have a current account I use for all business stuff. Don’t mix “your” money with “business” money.

This interview, two days after the Brexit vote, is worth a read for the “okay, won a battle, let’s take stock and think about the war overall” tone.

“We all want a more accessible, vibrant Ayr—but not at an economic cost…”

Going to walk into the shops and demand sweeties and toys, but not at an economic cost.

Day 2 of having a cold. I am largely better. Am fortunate enough to get ill only rarely and briefly, so hopefully today is the end of it. It’s disrupted the last week of a 9-week 10k training plan, though, which is annoying.

Have you seen the specific 'bridging' software for people in that situation?* Personally, I'm going to worry about it two or three weeks before the point of illegality, as is traditional in my tax affairs.

*Well, talk of said software, not sure any exists yet.

So while I haven't looked at it in detail, I can't see how it's going to be WORSE for me in terms of workload, just breaks an annual job into quarterly ones. May cost more, depending on how the software options pan out.

... than current pdf statements/online bank>excel>HMRC flow. Not looked at software options yet - too early, and may be further delays / changes in the thresholds. What will potentially be a pain is if I have to change account to link it up - currently sneaking by with an ordinary current account.

Had a quick look. My set-up is simple - everything goes in and out from one bank account, rare to have more than a dozen transactions a month - so whatever happens shouldn't be too onerous. If there's a free/cheap option which pulls transactions in from the bank account, that could be easier...

Gretchen, started following you near the start of your trip as your early Edinburgh posts appeared in my feed. Seems like you’ve had an EPIC trip round the UK, glad you enjoyed it so much - it’s been fun to follow.

Random Waller too - means walling using uneven blocks, akin to drystone walls I suppose.

Bellfield Brewery are taking it over, which seems as good a result as any.
