@russellawilliams.bsky.social @lucianashworth.bsky.social what to make of this? I assume this government is not taking a principled stance against liberalization of any kind here, but selectively targeting this sector?

Dalhousie’s admin has lost the damn plot. Let’s be clear, while provincial funding needs to be increased to help our universities thrive, Boards still have the money to pay employees a fair wage and provide more job security. Dal added $80 million to its cash-in-hand last year alone. #KeepDalStrong

So the same politicians who throw a fit if schools don't teach Shakespeare are now throwing a fit because universities do teach it.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

we're commencing the most dangerous time of year for pedestrians and our municipality continues to focus on paint as a solution. Email to leadership requesting urgent action to address systemic harm that we have chosen not to address

They would be credited or excused for that here. Sadly, in all 3 parties.

I didn't see notice of disruptions heading to the South end on Oxford and Connaught, where traffic was backed up over an hour this AM. They need to do better in notifications. The traffic control must be improved to allow access in both directions, not one only.

Reading this release (www2.acadiau.ca/about-acadia...) makes me even more angry at the process we just endured. Acadia demonstrated both sides can commit to not only maintaining relationships but strengthening them. For me, relationships feel fractured and repair will take time.

Screen capture of a portion of an Acadia press release that reads: The negotiating teams revised 39 articles— 74% of the collective agreement —and created seven Memorandums of Agreement (MOA). Negotiators met 21 days at the table from May 6 to August 8 this year, and settled amicably at the table on August 8.

“The two teams did a tremendous amount of work in a relatively short period of time and reached an agreement without a need for outside intervention.” says Anthony Pash, AUFA Lead Negotiator. “We thank the Board’s team for their hard work and willingness to engage in productive debate, and we hope that this is the model for negotiations going forward.”
