Since I really enjoyed your Dodgers book, I have to ask—do you have an idea for another one? Or is just living in this era of hell make it hard to focus on a huge project like that?
Gosh, that’s gotta be like 20 years old?

This is functionally a robbery of New York City and New York State taxpayers, who contribute billions more to the federal government annually than we get back.

Stealing our money, blocking our bus lanes.
NEW: White House announces it's going to pause, and potentially cancel, $11 billion in infrastructure funding (via the Army Corps of Engineers), specifically citing cities, like New York, represented or led by Democrats. More to come.
You're saying the performance makes you want to shout?

I wrote about these compilations when they first starting coming out, and I think they didn’t make the cut because RCA/Jive/BMG was licensing so much pop stuff (Britney/Christina/NSYNC/Backstreet) for these albums. I believe labels had a cut off of how many tracks per album they would allow.
Oh wow, thank you so much for sharing this Jay. I too loved Emergency as a kid and got back into it during the pandemic when reruns were on MeTV and Cozi-TV on weekends.
I must say, I was kind of stunned you didn’t know it! I even remember MTV News doing a whole feature on her directing “Heaven.” This was of course years before MTV had director credits.
That was such a big talking point when they were getting tons of MTV play that fall/winter.

Well sign me up right now for this!
My next book will be a biography of Jack Nicholson, written as an epic story of the transformation of the movie industry and modern masculinity from the 1950s to the present, with Nicholson as the main character. The title: Leading Man.
I’m back behind the controller this Friday night at Littlefield in Gowanus. Get advance tix at the link below! (And I don’t mean to beg, but please come! I need money to pay for today colonoscopy!)

I assume Rosenthal will continue say the pitching is Judge’s fault?
When I interviewed Bill about the book I said to him, “So if there’s a villain in this story it’s Elliot Roberts.”

Agree with this completely, it’s a terrific book.
The Janovitz Cars book really raises the bar on music bios. This is how you do a meat & potatoes, context-rich, loving but nonhagiographic deep dive into a band’s history. Funny, idiosyncratic, w a strong sense that it was written/researched by a *musician* while also accessible to a gen audience.
If you could only do the Spider-man meme with him!
I've interviewed him on baseball (and sometimes about music) multiple times--I could pass along his new pr person's info? He is out there pushing 72 Stories right now...
Thank you Josh. I am still stressed, but reading that brought down my blood pressure a couple notches.
Hello Josh. Getting my first colonoscopy on Wednesday, and it’s the first time I will go under any sedation since I was 8 years old…and the whole thing is seriously stressing me out in advance! And I haven’t even got to the drinking the awful stuff and pooping a lot part! Signed, Scared Shitless.
This is wonderful news. All the best to you both.
