Finally played the last Golden Idol dlc. What a fantastic series of DLC. I really loved the short dlcs - played through each one in a night with friends, which was such a fantastic way to experience them!

This game started out as a puzzle mechanic in another thing I was tinkering with, but loved the idea of it I ended up making a bunch of levels for it as a standalone.

Valve is absolutely nailing the production design of Deadlock. The new characters feel so visually unique, while also feeling like they all fit together seamlessly. Not to mention this new main menu theme song is a certified banger.

I made a small print&play puzzle over the holidays which is now available! Hope folks enjoy it. Estimated duration is about 2-3 hours. I do think it ended up a little tougher than I initially anticipated... so hopefully it's not too difficult!

When you go to select your pack (another unnecessary detail, but one I quite like), there are also sometimes packs which start backwards. Not sure why they added these steps in to the pack opening process, but I do feel it gives it a bit more of a 'physical' feel, which is nice.

A fun little #gamdev detail I noticed in the new Pokemon TCG. You can turn your packs around before you open them. If you do, the cards inside are reversed, and you have to flip them back over to see them.
Just a weird little detail - not sure why they added it, but fun to find!

Don't you just love it when somebody tries to attack your website with an SQL Injection attack 😂.

Doesn't look like they were able to do anything (we're sanitising our inputs and all), but still getting 300 emails like this in 5-10 minutes is a bit scary.

It’s definitely much hotter here atm than it is in Melb, so plan accordingly. Most stuff for SXSW is all within walking distance so there will probably be a solid bit of walking around!

Most of the games events will be taking place near Central Station - this is a very easy place to catch a train or bus to. Mercure Sydney, where a bunch of games booths will be, is right outside Central station. Similarly, Fortress Sydney is about a 5 minute walk down the road.

From the airport, the easiest way to get into the city (if you’re staying at a hotel in the CBD) is via train. There are frequent ‘rail link’ trains that will easily take you in to the city, although they’re a little pricey.

Public transport here uses a card system called Opal (very similar to myki in Melbourne). One advantage though is you don’t actually need to buy a card - you can just tap on and off using your credit card! Very convenient!
