Absolutely- I’m all for that, but it just gets a bit “posts on repeat” at times, and BlueSky is mostly liberal and progressive- which is good - but the posts are often preaching to the compassionate. I’ll Check out the list, thanks very much

No, it isn’t. I’d love to meet up with a group of people here. Out of the 3k+ “followers” I’d say a good thousand are bots. “Dem cat lady” etc

Thanks - I didn’t expect the BlueSky honeymoon to last forever - it started off as a gentle place, and sure enough (although minus the RW poison), it’s just becoming another ranting negative place. I agree with the points raised - but I just find so soul crushing here.

I echo that, Travis. There are good people like yourself here, but the vast majority of the content leaves me crushed - none of which I can change. People say “just block words”
It doesn’t work. Or mute accounts - then you end up muting friends.
9 times out of 10 a glance here results in a sigh.

I get that people want to vent about the madness of things, but BlueSky has turned into one depressing place.
Muted loads of words, but the first thing I see when I check in the morning? Screenshots from TruthSocial and X.
There’s no escape.
Mental health is certainly better without all this stuff.

I made this to warm a few GenX American hearts

You don't have to be a Gen X American for this video to resonate, but it helps...

Here are a few classic American slogans and jingles from 80s TV I've put together for you:

I made this ident video with a few classics in the mix 🙂

Thank you very much - great thread! Cheers 🙂

On it! Cheers Louis

Going to watch it now - thanks a lot

Not yet - worth it?

Same with mine - so they went on a massive recruitment drive in China, but that affected the enrolment of local kids, and the place shut down.

Very much so, just like school uniforms. Good that you weren’t totally alone. I only full boarded for 4 months, and when I look back at my diary, parents were back every three weeks or so. But that first school - urgh.

It’s out there somewhere! So it’s late 90s?
retrojames.bsky.social
Most of the kids at my second school were also fellow forces families - a lot of army with parents on bases in Germany, quite a few Air Force based at Brawdy, and me, the one with a dad in the Navy.

It was such a strange place - zero empathy, just anger, rigour, Latin, and rugby.
retrojames.bsky.social
I went to two - both closed. The first was hell - St John’s Prep in Porthcawl - weekly boarder, I was only there 6 weeks but it was just terrible. Threatened with the cane for the evil act of….
Talking after lights out.
I was 11 & needed mum.
The second was better, made friends, mostly a day boy.

Let’s go….im up for a bit of time travel

That would be brilliant

"Get off that bloody phone, you're seeing each other at school tomorrow!" was shouted at me on a regular basis!
retrojames.bsky.social
Thanks a lot - I added a lot of personal favourites in there!
