I am disappointed that Dr. Underly did not attend yesterday’s hearing, and I know we all have questions we need to see answered. As we continue to learn more, I remain committed to working with my colleagues to ensure our schools are a safe, welcoming place for all students.
Ensuring our kids' safety at school is a top priority for me. It is our responsibility as legislators to take questions or concerns about the handling of cases of misconduct in our public schools extremely seriously and make any changes to state law necessary to keep our kids safe.
While this continues, Democrats are looking at every possible avenue to help our families in the immediate term. If you or someone you know could benefit from these resources, please share.
Hundreds of thousands of kids in Wisconsin might miss out on meals in November. But Trump and Republicans remain uninterested in helping them.
Wisconsinites can visit the 211 Wisconsin site or call 877-947-2211 to find out about food assistance programs near them, or check out the list of Racine County Food Banks we’ve put together.
I want people to know where they can go to find food assistance while the shutdown affects the FoodShare program.
It doesn’t have to be this way, but Republicans refuse to work with us on actions that would actually lower costs and improve the lives of the people we serve.
While many of our neighbors are struggling to access affordable food, housing, transportation, health care, and more, funding is being cut for programs that offer critical support. Costs are increasing, nonprofits are overwhelmed, and people need help.

Democrats are standing up for the people we were elected to serve and putting in work for our communities. I’m calling on Republicans to do the same.
Additionally, funding for critical food assistance provided through FoodShare will run out soon under the Republican shutdown. This is unacceptable.
Republicans have made it clear that they would rather see Affordable Care Act subsidies expire than re-open the government. This means that more than 270,000 Wisconsinites will see their healthcare premiums skyrocket.
We are officially three weeks into the federal government shutdown and Trump and Congressional Republicans continue to put Wisconsinites’ economic security at risk. No one is benefitting from this shutdown and Republicans are letting it drag on instead of working with Democrats.
It is an honor to recognize his contributions as the 66th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year. I am proud to have constituents like him serving our community who are willing to step outside of themselves and into crisis to help those in need.
Thanks to their quick response, the participant’s heartbeat was successfully restored and they made a full recovery.
He noticed a participant experiencing a severe cardiac event and urgently responded to the individual. With assistance from another paramedic, the two were able to sustain the individual with chest compressions until law enforcement arrived with an AED.
When it mattered most, Alex Kiefer demonstrated courage and commitment to service in the midst of a critical incident.

On July 12, 2025, Alex saved the life of a fellow triathlete while participating in the Door County Triathlon.
We honor this day by celebrating the rich culture and many achievements of our state’s sovereign tribal nations and working together to improve the lives of everyone in our state.
Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Today serves as a reminder that Indigenous people have lived in the land we call Wisconsin for a long time.
Workers and management should be able to come together in good faith to identify problems and create solutions.

I support the right of health care workers to unionize and urge GHC’s leadership to listen to the employees who are on the ground providing services to patients.
They deserve to have their voices heard in decisions that impact them and the care they provide. Every worker deserves the right to organize and advocate for better working conditions without fear or retaliation from leadership.
Health care workers at GHC of South Central Wisconsin are raising legitimate concerns regarding patient care, staffing levels, and working conditions. These are the professionals who are working long shifts to take care of sick kids, aging seniors, and our neighbors.
Congressional Republicans have left Washington instead of working with Democrats on a plan to reopen the federal government - leaving Wisconsinites at risk of losing their health care coverage. No one should face losing access to healthcare due to costs.
Higher education should be attainable for every family in Wisconsin, and this package will help make that a reality.
