The Government Employee Fair Treatment Act is clear: all federal employees, excepted expected or furloughed, are entitled to back pay after a government shutdown ends.

Today, I joined a bipartisan letter urging Russell Vought to abide by this law- that his boss, President Trump, signed.

We are on Day 15 of this GOP shutdown and Day 26 of House Republicans’ paid vacation.

House Democrats are ready to work on behalf of the American people. Why won’t House Republicans end their vacation and join us?

PA Dems are in D.C. working to protect healthcare for all Americans. Wish we could say the same for our Republican colleagues. We are here and ready to talk!

$20,000,000,000 would make a BIG DIFFERENCE for our country.

That would allow us to extend the health insurance tax credits hard-working Americans rely on for a year. But Trump would rather use your taxpayer dollars to bail out his foreign right-wing crony.

Q: What is the benefit for the US in helping Argentina?

TRUMP: Just helping a great philosophy take over a great country ... we don't have to do it. It's not gonna make a big difference for our country.
repdwightevans.bsky.social
Trump could be urging House Republicans to end their paid vacation. Trump could be negotiating with Democrats to end this government shutdown and the shutdown of health care for 24 million Americans.

But instead, he’s fundraising for his ballroom👇🏾

We’re 15 days into a government shutdown, and what is Trump doing? Hosting billionaires to fundraise for his ballroom.

People’s healthcare costs are soaring and this is his priority.

ACA Marketplace Open Enrollment starts on Nov. 1!

Millions of Americans can’t wait ‘til Thanksgiving (Nov. 27!) to find out if the GOP, who control the House, Senate, and White House, will extend critical ACA tax credits and stop their health care costs from skyrocketing.
Thanksgiving travel looms as shutdown risk, GOP leaders say
They are citing flight cancellations and airport chaos amid their ongoing standoff with congressional Democrats.

$20 BILLION of your tax dollars to bail out a foreign leader.

But will Trump “be there” for the millions of hard-working Americans who are about to see their health care costs skyrocket without federal action?

REPORTER: Your message to the people of Argentina?

TRUMP: We love them. We'll be there for them. They have a great leader. A very great leader.

While House Republicans are doing “important work” on their paid vacation, House Democrats are ready to do the *actual* important work of ending this government shutdown AND the looming shutdown of health care for millions of hard-working Americans.

Mike Johnson claims Republicans are too busy doing “important work” back in their districts, to stay and Washington to avert the government shutdown, or at least get military families pay.

Here’s some of that very “important work” 🧵

The GOP controls the House, the Senate, and the White House.

House Democrats are ready to get to work for the American people. When will House Republicans be?
Graphic of Roll Call headline "Lawmakers show little urgency to end shutdown as it enters its third week." It's edited with "lawmakers" crossed out to say "House Republicans" and an asterisk to the text, "Unlike House Democrats who are ready to get back to work"
repdwightevans.bsky.social
It’s Day 14 of this government shutdown & Day 25 of the House Republicans’ paid vacation.

It’s DEFINITELY time for a new GOP strategy- try getting back to Washington to work out an end to both shutdowns, including the looming shutdown of health care for millions of Americans.

For the third week in a row, the Speaker has cancelled votes.

House Democrats are ready to get back to work for the American people- reopening the government and stopping the shutdown of health care for 24 million Americans. Why won’t House Republicans end their 21-day paid vacation and join us?

Today and every day, I stand with our Indigenous communities in Pennsylvania and beyond in their continued fight for justice and equality.

If Speaker Johnson and congressional Republicans are so “concerned” about health care, why won’t they work with Democrats to stop the shutdown of health care for 24 million Americans…

Without federal action, this Pennie enrollment season, people across PA will see their health insurance premiums skyrocket!

This crisis can’t wait. With only a few weeks until open enrollment begins on Nov. 1, Congress must act now!
Map of every county in Pennsylvania with the net premium percent change for Pennie 2026 Open Enrollment- without federal action to extend the ACA tax credits. Philadelphia county is highlighted where rates will raise an estimated 116%

The GOP's priorities could not be clearer: help the rich get richer, at the expensive of hard-working Americans.

ACA Open Enrollment starts on Nov. 1 and we are ALREADY seeing health care premiums skyrocket. But where’s the same sense of urgency from Republicans on this issue?
Tweet from Arthur Delaney: An awkward thing for Speaker Johnson's line about how Premium Tax Credits are "a December policy issue" is that the TCJA tax cuts were expiring at the same time as the PTCs but they urgently rushed to make the TCJA tax cuts permanent in July, saying America needed certainty

👀🔍 None of Pennsylvania's 10 GOP congressmen seem to be mentioned in these stories about some House Republicans calling on Speaker Johnson to end their 21-day paid vacation – but if you’ve seen these types of comments from them, please share!

Immigrant workers play a critical part in our food supply.

Trump's indiscriminate, abusive raids and deportations, alongside his reckless tariff-taxes, are driving up food prices for all. But, as I always say, that only matters to Americans who eat food!
Trump Labor Department Says His Immigration Raids Are Causing a Food Crisis
In a filing in the Federal Register, the Labor Department argues there are “immediate dangers to the American food supply” due to a lack of migrant agricultural workers.

Can Speaker Johnson read a calendar? It’s Oct. 9. ACA Open Enrollment starts Nov. 1.

This isn’t a Dec. 31 policy issue. Hard-working Americans across the country are ALREADY getting notified of massive premium increases, thanks to Republicans’ inaction.

Mike Johnson: "It's about keeping Congress operating so we can get to healthcare. We always were going to. They're lying to you. Okay? The healthcare issues were always gonna be something discussed, deliberated, contemplated, and debated in October and November."

It’s Day 8 of the government shutdown, and Day 19 of NO votes in the House!

While Speaker Johnson is still making excuses about not bringing the House back to work- the shutdown of health care looms for 24 million Americans whose premiums will DOUBLE, with open enrollment fast approaching.
Tweet from Jake Sherman: Asked if he’ll bring the house back next week, Johnson said “we’ve already done our job”

Air traffic controllers were already facing severe staffing shortages, especially after Trump’s reckless firings earlier this year. But soon, they will start missing paychecks.

The GOP created this crisis- but they would rather take a paid vacation – 19 days so far! - than get back to work.
