The House Judiciary Committee just held a public hearing an advanced my legislation, HB 1957, which would add a Reproductive Rights Amendment to the PA constitution — protecting the right to make personal decisions about abortion, contraception, and fertility care, free from government interference.

Across the US, reproductive rights are under attack. In the face of these restrictions, people are organizing to protect their freedoms. Since the Dobbs decision, citizens across the country have stepped up to defend reproductive freedom, and PA must be next. But we have some work to do.

We are proposing an amendment to the Pennsylvania Constitution that will reaffirm and protect every Pennsylvanian’s right to privacy and ensure that the state shall not deny or interfere with an individual’s reproductive freedom in their most intimate personal decisions.

For almost 50 years, Roe v. Wade provided Americans assurance of reproductive freedoms, rooted in the right to privacy. However, with SCOTUS's ruling in June '22 to overturn this precedent, Americans are no longer guaranteed those same rights to reproductive freedom & privacy under the Constitution.
