Blue Dot in a Red State. Writer, musician, artist, poet, opinionated, political, garden-loving foodie. No DMs. No crypto. No investments. I don't want to buy anything, and I am not interested in romance either. I am a hermit.

What do folks do when something is down? They go to social media to find out if it is just them or if it is really down. Yep,
#PayPal is down, all over the planet. I haven't heard any reports of why yet though. #PayPalDown

Citing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social says his democratic socialism is about "better distribution of wealth for all of God's children."

"We're in the wealthiest city in the wealthiest country in the history of the world, and one in four New Yorkers are living in poverty."

Most students are using AI to write, but not necessarily to cheat. They’re brainstorming, revising and thinking critically with tools like ChatGPT.

A writing professor says this isn’t a threat – it’s an opportunity, rather than a loss.
AI isn’t replacing student writing – but it is reshaping it
If AI allows students to automate routine cognitive tasks, it doesn’t mean they’re thinking less. It means their thinking is changing.

Hong Kong police have defused a 450kg World War II-era bomb discovered at a construction site, prompting the evacuation of more than 2,800 residents.

Authorities said the device was still ‘fully functional’ and could have caused mass casualties if mishandled.
I don't see myself ever fully retiring either, and I never planned to either. I just started into a new project, and I am definitely of a certain age, loving every minute of that thing they call life and work.

Celebrating poets: past and present. Happy Poet's Day!

I'm sorry. I hope you feel better soon. There seems to be a bit of that going around.
Very nice. That is a good shot.
I snapped this yellow beauty the other day at Monte Sano State Park, southeast US. I have tentatively identified is as goldenrod, although not one of the more common varieties of it found in our area. #flowerfriday #floralfriday #bloomscrolling #flowers #gardens
I love those things. I have one growing. I've got shots of the maypops, its fruit, but I can't seem to get a good shot of the flowers. Absolutely beautiful.
It sounds like a good pack. I like to keep up with what is going on politically and in the world, but I like to kick back and enjoy life as well.

As U.S. braces for Iranian attack, a 'brain drain' weakens its defenses, former officials say
Resignations have reduced the capacity of DOJ and FBI units that could help thwart an Iranian attack, former officials say. Trump administration officials say the units remain strong.
