in the dark so it can "learn" to behave and calm down. the poor thing was whining and barking and scratching at the door.

and all it took for the pup to calm down was an hour long walk. now he's calmly lounging on his own pillow.

or you could just say that you're sensitive or that you have for example sensory issues or whichever symptoms you have. personally i would avoid hsp bc of the ableistic connotations of the term and bc using it could make autistic people feel uncomfortable 😬

it's less ableistic to self-diagnose than to use an inherently ableistic term.

or if you don't feel comfortable with using autistic, i'd try some other terms. when i was younger i used to say that i suspect i might have autism or that i have a lot of autistic traits, which got my point across.
