humanity doesn't need to be educated into people

they already have it

it is the inhumanity of the civilised rational actor that must be taught

and it takes the rewards of privilege to motivate acceptance of membership of that elite class

neurotypicality is a myth as in an ideal concept that cannot exist in material reality

but it is also a social construct that does exist in material reality

it's a relic of the natural philosophy of Newton's era that still dominates some areas of academia

the ideal rational actor has access to the instruction manual and therefore never makes mistakes

there are multiple different standards for what is acceptable behaviour in the present day as well as historically

there is a standard that denies this and insists that there is only one standard where only the winners get a say

it can be used that way in an attempt to reverse rather than deconstruct the binary (which I do not endorse)

but in a medical/academic context it is closer to the rational actor ideal that I mention in the quoted post

the older traditional models still dominate institutions despite the level of evidence proving how harmful they are

there are two different models of education and academia at play here

the older traditional model sees the purpose as to own and control what may be known in general and to train people to comply with that

the newer model sees the purpose as developing knowledge in order to build a better world

it's a classical liberal argument where racism is just part of the inherently sinful nature of human beings and they're the only ones who know how to 'civilise' it away

they see the far right as being further along in this process because they agree it's inherent at least

I had a mental health breakdown nearly twenty years ago and I got sent to a work coach months before I had any kind of talking therapy.
