I mostly get grumpy about marketing upsell pitching manufactured glasses as some kind of stone, like all the fruit-named "quartzes" and opalite glass being sold as a crystal. Or dyed howlite being sold as "turquoise" (since they can kinda hedge about color vs stone to folks who don't know better).

It's the "but it CAN'T happen to ME!!" desperation that gets me. Like, dear being, if you're lucky enough to live to Old, it's gonna happen. If you don't make it to Old, it happened already. Such is the vexation of being required to maintain a corporeal form, physics happens.

I got the permanent ick for toxic positivity/The Secret/Prosperity Gospel ages ago, what with the chronic illnesses I've had since I was a kid. It all boils down to "It's YOUR fault your body is jank" and "Paste on a smile and stop whining because it's giving me the sads". To hell with that noise.

The right accumulates strange shibboleths. It's up there with emphasizing the wrong syllable of Kammala. It's ingroup/outgroup signalling, same way every sufficiently isolated religious community spawns jargon that doesn't match what you'd expect by dictionary definition alone.

It was a lucky 3AM Ebay find ages ago. It's like 2/3 of a pound, and it only cost me 10 bucks with shipping, and it's still one of the niftiest rocks I have. 😁

I grow increasingly grossed out by gambling advertising. The game has always been about convincing someone with barely a handful of pocket change that one weird trick could change their life, and now they've even pulled away from that with pitches about fun/habit forming/"social". It's just foul.

It really is! I only really check in a few places, and that handful keeps shifting with various corporate nonsense. The balance between "easy for those not terminally online" and "bearable amount of evil behavior by owners" is wobbly as hell, and I keep losing connections as the wind blows.
