Today I'm redoing the FastTravel to work across levels. This has turned out to require a lot of refactoring, mainly because the non-current levels are not initialized, and their data must be found in the level's saveStates from the .json save file. I'm having fun though 😵‍💫 #indiegame #gamedev
One thing that came up during play test was the very placeholdery enemy AI. It looked just one move ahead based on raw distance to a player. Not good when obstacles are in the way. I spent yesterday evening implementing a classic A* approach, and it's already much better. #indiegame #gamedev

Definitely the new one! I find the overall composition better, with the logo in the top left. The inclusion of the magnifying glass is crucial. I would probably make the glass in the magnifying glass slightly more opaque. It took me a few seconds to identify what it was.
True. However I'm making a puzzle game, so playtesting myself is not really an option. Luckily I've got some good people, willing to play and give feedback 😍

Working really hard at the moment. Play tests on the alpha build every other day this week. I’ve also thrown myself rather recklessly into the creation of an intro cutscene video - a multiweek project of a kind I have little experience in. I really hope it all pans out 😬 #gamedev #indiegame

Putting music aside for now, I'm starting to work on the first frames for the cutscene. I'm picturing a still frame kind of video, with some slight movement to give perspective. And lots of moving effects like rain and lights. Never done something like this before, so we'll see #gamedev #indiegame

I’ve found that having a board such as this is incredibly helpful. It helps me clear my mind by not having to remember stuff, and it gives me something concrete to do whenever I have time to get some work done. Even if it’s just refining a task. #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev

Update: I did indeed catch a random spark of motivation 🤩 All the proposed fixes from the first play test feedback was implemented over the last few nights. Next up is more play test and more feedback. But first: Friday! Have a great one, folks! #indiegame #gamedev

Feeling a bit burned out after a hard sprint to get the demo ready for play testing. I definitely need more feedback than what I got, but I’m concerned that any new play tests on the current build, will just produce duplicate feedback. Hoping that unexpected motivation hits me #indiegame #gamedev
Playtest went really well. Learned a lot. The tweaks from the latest feedback were really good. Still a few things to improve. But overall the testers had fun. Got both some laughs and some cool Aha-moments which is really all you want. Now, back to work! #gamedev #indiegame
