I’ve always thought the way they sing the words “stay if I” in Miss Murder sounds like “AFI” and I don’t know if it’s intentional
Can’t point out the terrible thing your opponents are doing and will continue to do, that’s not sporting or something
I made it through this but not Bring Her Back and I think the lesson (for me) is that it you’re gonna be disgusting you gotta go all the way and fully untether your film from reality
I think it’s funny that all these fascists are beholden to the same cringey teen loner archetype of “badass”. Waiting for a government press release calling Trump “sigma”.
why would you need to be legally compelled to disclose information that makes you look good
Love the idea that public records laws don’t apply to records that make the public official look bad. What would they be for otherwise?
Two years ago I signed up for a class action lawsuit so tonight, by sheer coincidence, Mark Zuckerberg bought me pizza.
"two average-sized testicles" is somehow an even worse and more ambiguous criterion than your typical Rowlingesque gender critical would come up with
Les Rallizes Denudes, both because they technically never recorded any studio albums, and because every single one of their bootlegs that's surfaced & been endorsed by the band is amazing
"traditional American culture" is usually just whatever the speaker's family happened to be like when they were 13
I remember when I first hooked up my Xbox with Aqueduct and learned that even though I could smoke all my friends at Halo, I was getting pistol sniped from half a map away in every online match.
Is there a word for when you’re too good at a game to be fun for casual players to enjoy playing against you, but not good enough to play competitively? I feel like a lot of people get to this point at like, bowling, super smash brothers, chess, pinball, etc. and then never improve.
describing Marc Andreessen as a "movie buff" makes me feel like I may have slipped into the On Cinema universe
It’s tiresome at this point, but again, their entire pitch is “wouldn’t it be great if there were no such things as talent, craft, and skill,” and what that means is a bland, slop-filled world. www.businessinsider.com/marc-andrees...
I always assume the kids going on talk shows to complain about colleges rejecting them have never interviewed for a job before, and likely never will
Yeah there have been static tools for this sort of thing for as long as I’ve been a developer, it seemed like an easy choice. In return I got the sort of inexplicable mistakes I don’t think a person or the older methods could have made. Duplication, hallucinating new variables, changing the math…
the chiropractors of the math community
basically just shuffling things around hoping to get a result that's more than the sum of its parts
I can't really quantify it, but all the improvements they're making seem like clever attempts to make a perpetual motion device, or a perfect compression algorithm that reduces the size of every input, running multiple substitution ciphers expecting a more secure result, etc.
The AI tools they’re integrating in crash reporting & debugging software are also total garbage that confidently send you down bullshit rabbit holes
I’ve used it at the advice of colleagues, for use cases that it should have been great at (translating existing code to a syntactically similar language, the most clear instructions you could give), and it was still a massive waste of time that made more work than it saved.
They had all the money in the world and pretty much the entire political establishment on both sides behind them and they still couldn’t find anyone better than Cuomo, it’s remarkable how dedicated they are to propping up the dried out husks of old white men at their own expense.
they want the prestige of being a great philanthropist or a pillar of their community without actually doing anything for anyone with their money, most of them don't even run local businesses that employ local people
if he sincerely believes he's communicating with an enslaved god that doesn't really bode well going forward and seems fairly inline with other instances of AI-induced psychosis I've read or been told about
Had this coding assessment for a job that, I must stress, was not an ML, computer vision, or data science role. I wonder if their lead engineer has that background and just doesn’t understand what most people would consider a simple programming task.
